my new Camaro SS 1LE FINALLY came in yesterday. Was only a month late for delivery. Lastnight I did full decon and light polish and today I put can coat EVO on it. Has been in my cabinet for months and have been wanting to try it. One down side is that it seems this GM paint is sticky. I had a hell of a time removing the coating. Only other car I had that has had sticky paint like this was my 2012 Subaru WRX I had years ago

I have two clients whose vehicles (a 2007 Toyota Tacoma and a 2017 GMC Acadia) that I coated with Gyeon CanCoat Evo. CanCoat Evo is basically a one year coating.. and we are going on year 2 with the coatings!

I know right! Well There are a few different coatings that can get up to 5 years, like Gtechiq CSL, Gyeon Syncro, and System X Coatings

Nice Phil. Sponges are making a come back! I just got a couple of those Korean high quality sponges that Todd Cooperrider from Esoteric sells and believe me, they are great. I think you hit the nail on the head though with sponges. They are great for light dirt and maintenance washes (which is all I need 90% of the time) but you need something a little heavier like a quality mitt or microfiber when the dirt is heavier. The sponges do not scratch, are very soft, and hold soap and water well. They are NOT the old sponge you bought from Pep Boys in the 1970's/80's. They are also great for rinseless washing. Soft 99 also sells a couple different ones that are almost identical to the ones that Esoteric sells (I have the Soft 99 sponges also). The new Daytona Speedmaster Red Sponge from Autogeek is also very good. I actually prefer the smaller sponges like those over the BIG RED or BIG YELLOW ones out there.

Why would a customer choose a one year coating over a 3-5 year coating, especially since the prep work to apply the coating is the same? All the work on our end is in the prep. The application of the coating is the easiest part of the process.

I realize the cost difference in the product being used is a factor but again, all the labor to get to the point of applying the coating is the same. Trust trying to get a better understanding here on pricing these options to customers.

Excellent questions! So the difference in price is about $300. Our one year coating service starts at $1000 our two year starts at $1200 and the 3-5 $1500. But yea the process is the same I just switch out the coatings and use better ones with each service upgrade.

@@MirandaDetailing Thank you for sharing this information! This is exactly what I was looking for. Obviously, pricing is also different geographically, but this is great information! I have been applying 3-5 year coatings from $800-$1200 depending on the size of the vehicle. Sounds like I may need to adjust these up a little to be able to offer a 1-2 year coating for less and still maintain a good margin on my labor. Thanks again and keep the content coming!

Hi. Thanks. I like to opt for a High Ph Soap like KCX Super Foam to deep clean the paint with a coaitng. but only if needed. The APC risne may be a little too aggressive for coatings.

Try isopropyl alcohol. The strongest you can get. Spray it on a soft microfiber towel and gently dissolve the sap with that.

Yeah we use still use super clean usually 1:4 or 1:10. But we usually pre rinse the vehicle also if it’s in the hot sun.
