A weekend #backpacking trip out to #AltaPeak of #sequoianationalpark.
The trip was a moderately intense 2 day/1 night, 13.5 mile - 7500 ft elevation gain, Out & Back out to the #AltaPeak via the #Wolverton Trailhead. It was an absolute pleasure to summit Alta Peak - complete with an isolated, perfect star-gazing campsite.
There was a light mosquito presence at the campsite. A little snow bridge remains on the Alta Peak 2.1 trail, as of late August 2023 - no crampons needed. No reliable water source after the Alta Peak 2.1 sign so fill up in the stream directly after the sign before attempting to summit. The trail becomes hard to follow close to the top, but the direction is simple enough to follow - just go up! I was also highly recommended to try the High Sierra Trail of Kings Canyon and explore the Mineral King area, which I hope to do once the area opens.
