Although you have experienced some frustration, I think you have some wonderful symbiotic relationships in your reef. Always a joy to see what you have going on.

Loads of info! I am a new Nem RBTa keeper & I get stressed out when she does all these odd things (like shrinking) like it's about 2 die and the next day it's good again. Thanks 4 passing on the knowledge!

Another thing to learn Scott, is that Anemones do the hosting. Clown fish or anything else is hosted by the Anemones. It's what makes for symbiosis

Great vid Mile High. I feed my RBTA every couple days with LRS, he prefers the high light of the halides and crawls into his bunker of rock at night, flow is medium around his zone. Main thing is avoiding his movement across the tank especially with other corals, because he'll basically kill anything he touches. I do think as of this morning that mine has split, as it looks like two inside the same hole. Gonna be observing this for a few days til he decides to emerge again. Wasn't expecting it so soon as it's pretty young.

Congrats on the splitting James! These are the events that really make this hobby wort it.

Im 5 months in on my first reef. I have a 40 gal sumpless system i started with 10 lbs. of liverock initially, which totals 35 lbs. of reef rock now.. Im running HOB filtration, protein skimmer, kessil lighting, 2 hydor 425's in wave mode,1 constant aquaclear 30, in DI water and feed my 2 puffers very lightly. My numbers are all good, and everything seems so far so good. Not using 2 part, separate dosing all elements. Lots of small purple coralline patches everywhere now.... LPS, SPS, softies all so far so good, acropora's the slowest of them all but still growing. Monti Caps and anthelia's exploding. What do you people suggest is the next step for me? GFO reactor? refugium? Dosing pumps?
@MileHighReefers10 жыл бұрын
The important part is that your system parameters are stable. Anything you do to ensure that your numbers are in spec and stable will benefit your tank. If your dosing two part I highly recommend the dosing pumps. They will keep your ALK stable witch will help everything in your tank especially the SPS. If you have phosphate issues the GFO will make a big difference. A refugium is a waste unless you can devote lots of space to it,

I don't dose 2 part, I understand those deal with cal. and alk only not Mag right? I dose everything separate and add very little strontium as I cant measure that. Everything else I can measure and add separate in liquid except for dry magnesium I mix. Im thinking a small GFO allright...... hmmm thanks!

Soooo last week I bought my first Saddleback clownfish and Haitian anemone. I never buy anything Marine without exhaustuve research, thus was an impulse purchase. Love the clown even though it's one of the most aggressive I've had in fifteen years in this hobby. Bites my finger. I was feeding the Haitian/Condy a 1/3rd a cube a day of Mysis every day and I did a filter feeding of Nutricell which caused the anemone to puff up like crazy the next day. So yesterday morning I freaked out as the Clown was no where to be seen. I checked everwhere to c if it jumped out. The Condi looked weird. Later that day the Condis mouth was opened so wide I thought it was dying...,that's when I realized it was expelling waste and the pos ate my gorgeous clown!!!! The store I bought it from neglected to tell me it's a super aggressive species that cSn and will kill your fish, inverts and corals! The only Marine purchase I've EVER regretted.

@MileHighReefers8 жыл бұрын
It's hard to know what's wrong. All you can really do is keep feeding it and hope for the best. Good Luck.

have 2 different types in my 120gal. one of them Im getting rid of, it just moves too much and it stung 2 of my corals. it will stay for a month or 2 in one spot but then move for a week. The only problem is that I can't get a pet store that takes them. understand why now. more of a pest to have. They are beautiful, but in someone else's tank.

+Nick Mills (millsn7) They defiantly aren't for everyone.

That sounds like the fuking Haitian/Condi I have that just ate my fire saddleback clown. The water is pristine in a 4 year old tank and I've feed it allot but it moves around like it's pissed off and hates the water conditions.

Can I keep a hammerhead corol and anemone next to each other
@joshsvlogsgaming73616 жыл бұрын
they would battle it out and most likely the anemone will win so you would have to move your hammer

Its a rose tip just a not so healthy one
@kenxnx.b_a5 жыл бұрын
Jesse Adams not necessarily some rose bubbles don’t need the bubbles to be healthy. Anemone morphology is weird.
@stevenmoomey21154 жыл бұрын
Feed your Anemone cut pieces of Silversides. The LFS should have the Frozen Silversides. Most PetCo’s carry them. I feed Silversides once a week, the day before my water change. During the week I give them a little Reef-Roids when I feed my Corals.
