1 Year Old Chimpanzee Wants To Know Newborn Baby - 3 Days Old !!

The 3 day old baby chimpanzee has caused quite a stir at Chester Zoo and one year old Jeff is really curious, he comes over for a closer look and mother Alice is fine with the attention. Since giving birth, Alice has formed a closer bond with Jeff's mother ZeeZee.
Chester Zoo's new baby chimpanzee was born on 29th December 2023 to mother Alice.
This is wonderful for the zoo as the female chimps at Chester make amazing mothers.
Chester Zoo is part of the European and international Chimpanzee Breeding Program and is dedicated to ensuring the survival of these magnificent animals. Chimpanzees are great apes and are human's closest relative, sharing nearly 99% of our DNA
The new baby is adorable Alice is an experienced mother and keeps baby close to her tummy holding it with her hand supporting it with baby clinging on to her when she moves and walks
The rest of the troop were calm and settled around baby on this visit and many of the chimps including the younger ones took an interest in the baby
ZOO BABY BOOM!
The zoo has an incredible record for animal baby births over its long history and the chimpanzee group their are having a baby boom at the moment! this incredible baby birth comes shortly after baby Jeff's first birthday!
The Chester Zoo Baby Birth makes the troop population at 21 the baby's gender is currently unknowns as chimpanzee mother Alice keeps the baby close to her body at all times! just as she did with her daughter Annie

Alice seems much calmer with this baby!
Alice is an experienced mum and has a 4 year old daughter Annie.
The Chester Zoo troop which now totals 21 members comprising of 7 Males and 13 Females and baby (sex to be determined)

Wonderful how aware Alice is of the baby, the minute the baby lets go a bit, Alice's hands are ready to support the baby.

Alice is wonderful experienced mom, having successfully reared babies before, Annie her last baby is growing to be a wonderful strong popular member of the troop Alice does keep her babies close to her for the first months, more so than mom Zeezee, who is more relaxed about letting trusted female members of the troop help with her babies eg Stevie and Jeff Thanks for watching! even cousin Jeff is so young,know where to draw a line,how far to stay away,and how to aproach,Alice i bet she put that down in her note book,so if Jeff behaves like this,i bet in 6 months to 1 year tops she will not have problem to give the baby to Jeff for babysitting sesion,Jeff is building trust with Alice at this young age,i love it

this chimp was born on the 29th of December I have a feeling its a boy but I may be wrong as she isn't really showing the baby unless she's eating

@@brendabrinkmanpasichnyk3500The danger though (correct me if I'm wrong), is that if the zoo keepers feed Alice extra food, the threat is that a few of the other chimps will quickly pick up on this and attack her, endangering the baby in the process.

Poor baby, she carries him way too low and just when you think baby's gonna to latch on, she moves. I hope they monitor and give them supplemental bottles, If they can.
