Today we do a Overland Build rig walk around review summary of the 2014 F150 FX4 5.0 V8. A year ago we did a complete Overland custom build and I wanted to share a summary of some of the things I like and some of the things I don't. Look at you ! You Clean up well, all done up and respectable . ;) I sold my 'Ole 91 Toyota (500,000 + K ) last year and moved up to a '18 Tacoma. I just swapped out the stock tires to Falken Wildpeaks and now to start making decisions for what's next. $$$ Good to see you again Wadz !

@@WADZUP LOL You're talking to a bald guy about short hair :) I'm still in Victoria, yup. I had a big Moab trip planned for this last May with Mr. Duhfactor, eveRide and about 15 other KZbin riders. It was going to start with a full engine and suspension rebuild at Mr. Duhfactors place, then 4 days of riding......then Covid. My bike is still sitting headless in my garage while I work up the courage to do a full rebuild with a Big bore and stroker kit.

Great video and great truck. I think I will stay with my RTT Overland Trailer, only so I can keep my bike in the truck bed. I looked at the hitch carriers with my current Jeep JK, but then I can't pull the trailer and my bike is 400lbs, not 250 like your Husky. My 2 cents, is that I like being able to set up camp with the trailer/RTT, then drive away to the trails each day. Same when carrying canoes/kayaks on the rack. But I know that RTT on the truck versus the trailer is a big overland controversy. So that is how i finally got to the idea of the F150, rack, etc. and your experience and comments are very useful.

I like everything except the exhaust setup. I’ve never understood wanting to make an overlanding or road trip vehicle louder. Aftermarket Akrapovic exhaust on a BMW M2 Competition - absolutely, but my Jeep & F-150 are both stock & the Ford is the 3.5L Ecoboost ... love that it’s smooth & inaudible on trips.

Fair comment and the ROI with horsepower, torque on the JBA set up is very little. Given the time, effort, cost I’d stand down next time looking back.

You mentioned how much it rains in BC. Take that into consideration if/when you do try a clam shell rtt. Most people that review rtt don't even mention how the soft shell tents create a "awning" and how you climb under the tent to get inside which protects you from the elements and your boot bags. You'll be completely exposed when you need get out of a hard shell rtt if it's raining. I wish they talked about that more, instead of constantly clamouring about the pack up time, I'm quite disappointed with my pop up tent and would prefer a soft shell.

Great feedback and I definitely have considered that. I love the overhang with the TREELINE and the annex room . I use it as a boot room and for drying muddy wet gear, changing and even setting up the portable Cassette. With camping you often solve one problem but create another challenge, generally all first world problems but I do like the idea of setting up faster and tearing down easier. Maybe there a Four Wheel Off-road drop down camper in my future. P.s Ive done a fairly detailed review of my TREELINE 4 season RTT if your interested in hearing my experience. What motor is in this build? I've been wanting to get one with 2nd Gen 5.0 coyote. I've heard bad idea as it makes its torque in higher rpms but it's a truck not a rock crawler 😅

It’s the 5.0. Easy to work on, reliable, parts are dime a dozen. I’ve climbed Idaho mountains, plowed over sand dunes, and buried it in Ozark rivers. And even put it to work on the farm hauling trees. You’ll be very happy if you get your hands on one

@@ericoconnor21 see and that's what I'm going for after a handful of triton motors and always looked at the 5.0 and the 6.2. 5.0 small packs a wide range of power and easy to get your hands around and work on. Just waiting on taxes and I found a 2015 4x4 sport 5.0 V8 scratches in paint around the truck one minor dent in rear left panel of bed. Priced at 10,995.

Does the longer wheelbase hurt its abilities off-road at all? Also do you think axle swapping the same truck is a good idea or is the IFS strong enough for 37s? Thanks

if you lived in place without the constant rain, would you be looking for a hard shell? been looking for a 4 person (2 adults 2 kids) tent that can hold up to high winds, been looking at treeline, 23zero (seems similar approach but different materials, e.g. four poles for window awnings but less dense fabric) and Skycamp (strong base, but video of 40mph is concerning). any thoughts - will likely not see cold temps, but no or little rain
