You can drive in Europe/UK on foreign plates for up to 6 months. But you do need to buy a minimum of local liability insurance as your US insurance doesn’t apply. But there are plenty of companies that sell short term insurance. The same applies to the US btw. I saw a Ukrainian plates Passat it Nj the other day. It only seems odd as compared to Mexico or Canada because it requires shipping the car.

It always “wows” me how different countries can be. My friend from the Netherlands came to the states to visit for the first time and was talking about how big the vehicles are. For me, going back to the UK and driving a saloon/sedan is a nightmare, I cannot imagine driving a big old tricked out Ram TRX. This actually happens in México most of times. In the north of México is really common to have pick up trucks, it’s your dad standard vehicle basically. Thing is most streets here are very narrow, cars park on the sidewalk, etc. Downtown, there’s street markets everyday so they cover the sidewalk and a piece of the lane. Even for a experienced pick up truck driver, it’s hard to drive those streets. My dad has to go to TX because of work and he used to take his 2006 Ford Lobo (F-250), it’s a dream to drive in the states, every lane is wide enough.
