I think you're the only owner who is breaking down costs like this. Really great info for future owners so they can incorporate these costs into their first year of ownership. A Honda tech in another video said to just follow the suggested plan as the first oil has a lot of grease in it which is expected to catch any of the break in bits. Changing out the oil too early means you might be using an oil that isn't intended for break in. The K20C doesn't have much blow by at all. Some good info from well respected shops/users on the forum saying even their highly tracked, 500hp FL5 has just a few drops during their checks. They have uninstalled it for a flex fuel system in the same spot. The lagging screen issue can be generally resolved by disabling the Honda navigation in the menus, even if you're not using it.

Love the car and it is my current obtainable dream car and hope to get one in a year and half. Thanks for the info, especially about the wheels/tires as that is my plan as well and wondered if you could go down to an 18 with the big brakes. While I'm old school myself and prefer rwd cars when I play with this car in Gran Tourismo 7 with how I have it setup it gets better lap times then most of my other cars that aren't fwd. I currently drive a Mini 2dr S which is fwd and is a blast to drive so can only imagine how much better the Type R will be.

Nice review - sheesh, $2,400/yr insurance is nuts! Definitely shop around. Was originally in the market for a Sport 6MT, and seeing they are starting to sell for MSRP, now the Type-R has my interest being its the last of its kind (next gen rumored to be hybrid or electric).

Just an FYI, most auto manufactures suggest an oil change/service interval that will make your engine/drivetrain wear out faster. That way they can sell you another car sooner rather than later. My advice on turbocharged/supercharged cars is to cut the manufacture interval in half. For Example: If they suggest 6000 miles, then I change the oil at 3000 miles

I got my 2024 a couple weeks ago for $2,500 over MSRP with some addons "for free" which in the current market seems more than fair if you want to put little to no effort into searching. It seems like the success stories are popping up daily. Super informative video for someone who just hit 300 miles on the dash lol. My only complaint so far is the gas tank. 11 gallons feels like nothing when I came from a 17 gallon Tacoma tank. At least we look cool at the gas station right?

At your age I would have DD'd this thing perfectly. Now that I'm 43, this would be a second car. I just want to be lazy and chill when going to work, LOL. Hear ya on all the things you mentioned. My advice to you would be to keep this thing. Even when you get tired of it and want something more comfy, quiet, no rattles and easier, which seems like it won't happen...but trust me it will, keep it and buy a used Lexus for DD. It's harder to dump 50k on a car when you get more expenses. Funds to buy a house, mortgage payments, kids, family expenses including your parents, etc.

Does anyone know if these are still marked up at the dealer? I drive a GRC, and Toyota hosed a lot of us with the allotment game. Recently, I’ve seen two more Circuit Editions at the same dealer with better specs, features, and improvements over the 2023 model.

I can definitely say Toyota has done a terrible job with the GRC. It's my fault for being a test buyer, but the way they launched the trim levels was bad. I still love my car, but I feel ripped off, and I'm going to give them serious feedback on that.@@turbo_tin

Good review from your personal POV. I felt the car was too big as the Civic, and most all cars have grown way too much over the years. I have other cars if I need to haul more things. I just like smaller cars that don't feel as large. I would also never change the oil every 10k miles on any turbocharged engine. That is for normal usage and most owners fall into severe service which will be 5k mile oil changes, even Honda doesn't do them all for free. Your engine will be very happy if you plan on keeping this car. You didn't do a break-in oil change at 800-1k miles as you should on a new engine? And BTW, you should never transport a flat panel TV laying down like that! They should be transported like they hang on the wall.
@turbo_tin
@turbo_tin Ай бұрын
My next oil changes will be at 5k. I was surprised to find nothing in the manual regarding the break in oil as well but I followed Honda's rec so warranty will be covered if anything happens. I will keep your TV transporting tip in mind. This was the first time. Thanks for watching!
@jimsgaragetoys
@jimsgaragetoys Ай бұрын
@@turbo_tin Manufacturers only care about the car lasting through the warranty. If you are going to keep it long term change the oil every 5k miles. And don't forget about your transmission too. I did a break-in oil change at 800 miles on the engine oil and at 5k miles on the transmission. New, fresh oil is never a bad thing!
@hankhillsnrrwurethra
@hankhillsnrrwurethra 20 сағат бұрын
The factory coats the engine parts in a grease that the first oil load is designed to catch. With this car, he did the right thing. I have the Integra Type S, same engine. After that, sure I will be changing at 5k.
@jimsgaragetoys
@jimsgaragetoys 13 сағат бұрын
@@hankhillsnrrwurethra I've seen too many oil analysis tests proving otherwise even when this has been stated. It's been shown that it's better to get the break in bits from the original 1k miles out of the engine. Fresh oil will never hurt the engine. I did an oil change at 800 miles, 2500, 4800 and now at 7800. My GRC recommends every 5k miles or 6 moneys for regular driving and 2500 miles for severe, well I can tell you that most of us fall into the severe category the way we drive our cars! Ant Type R owners are the same way so take what it says and cut it in half!

What??? This is your first ever oil change? I would have changed oil after the first 1 thousand mark..... when the engine have done flaking away small minute metal particles from a newly fresh engine and then dumping all of it out ASAP with an oil change to flush the system away. You left it for another record breaking 9,000 miles where all the small metal particles are floating around circulating and grinding against cams, cranks, bearings, cylinder walls, etc etc. OY!!!
