Use garden fabric or paper around your plants before adding the mulch to keep out the weeds. Use two layers and you will save yourself tons of work. You will have a weed free garden that you will be free to add new plants to each season . You will love it.

Thanks! Trust me, I know a power washer would be a lot faster but I randomly got a cleaning bug that made me want to clean it lol. Nothing wrong with a little manual labor. The wood is pretty rotted, so I will probably not paint it.

I have used cardboard in the front garden, it works okay. But after a few seasons it breaks down and the grass has grown through. :(
