Because fast social media can provide good and bad, we have to use our intelligence to see through it. Not easy. People are being more cautious today. I got scammed by Social Security fake email one day after I was on their web site and visited them.pretyy scary. We love our almost Horton home but must be savvy buyers. Your utube helps point out what to look for. Disappointed about this smart system I dont need. Good luck to you. DR

I think a big problem with new homes is people expect them to be problem free. They won't be, ever. No doubt some people have major problems, but it seems like most complaints (for DR and other builders) are for relatively small things. Thank you for your followup.

Small things can be very very annoying why can’t a new house be perfect no reason not to be there building them all the time not a first time builder just saying

Thank you for the very thorough house exam as we are looking to buy house in Vero Beach FL. and scared of all the bad reviews esp instructural. Not to have specialist inspector is not right and didnt like smart system they wiggled in at closing. Hoping badvreviews makes Horton get quality materials/products. Their mortgage lender gave us 6.5 % interest rate and then offered 5.99% only to find out it would cost $5,000 more at closing and they never told us. We saw it on new paper work. We didnt like we'd have to pay for lower rate. TY again. DR

All builders have issues. It’s important not to be an absentee owner during the building phase. You would be amazed at the number of items they will hide behind walls and under flooring. I was at mine every week and caught multiple screw ups. 19 years later virtually no issues…

Thanks for the update Jason!! Good to hear that DR Horton took care of everything!! I bought a home about a year earlier than you did. It was a well known supposedly,great builder. A new home does have a few quirks to work out. I feel we had many. My builder was not as quickly to take care of our problems. It sounds like DR Horton kept good communication and quickly took care of everything?! In the end any builder can be lazy and not take care of problems that arise. Buying a new home has it pros and cons for sure. Eventually we did get everything fixed. They are still building new homes around us. From what I hear many of them have problems?? Thanks for the update. I watch YT videos from CyFy HomeInspections in Arizona and he doesn't have good things to say about alot of new home builders. Sadly. But it's good things worked out for you. 😊

I have been in this hell hole for 25 months trying to get them to make the repairs for the mess they built. Code violations and defects all over. Can't use half of my house. Structural defects, plumbing, subfloor, HVAC, electric, mold...so many issues. I had a major flood 5 months ago because they never installed a VTR and my house is still torn apart and not repaired, no use of both upstairs bathrooms. I have builders tape trying to cover the holes and gaps around my front door to keep the rain, bugs, dirt and debris out. They keep trying to say they don't need a permit when the county building department said they do because they replaced the door and frame. All they want to do is patch up the stucco when the wood and under layers have been left open for months, the wood is cracked and filled with moisture and it's missing flashing! My windows all leak, nothing is sealed on the interior or exterior. My radiant barrier is defective, not enough roof ventilation, every nail is rusted and corroded and popping out along with the truss plates. Their supers and managers are disrespectful, disorganized and don't completely ignore tests, calls and emails. What they have put my family through is criminal.

@@MoneyHungryPicker Your house is missing proper flashing too, in the join between the weatherboards and rock fascia, caulking alone will not seal it, there's other places too. Buy yourself a moisture detector and check the whole interior every month and have the air mold level tested.

@@tonytucker8651 Haha, it's funny, I was thinking on this guy not long ago because even more building code violations came to mind, as I reflected on the lack of stormwater drainage. But yes I've been on YT long enough to realise that there's no saving some people from their terrible decisions, some time in the near future when the slabs cracked, the walls are leaning and black mould is growing abundantly in every room; he'll get it.

Built by untrained Hispanics that work as 3rd party contractors. I know because i work for a plumbing company that does DR Horton. These homes are absolute junk by the time the workers figure out what they are doing
