My friends California just had it's clutch fail 60 days out of warranty and Ferrari wants $35K and 4-6 weeks to get a new one from Getrag. Lookup 458 and Califonia Clutch Failure it's a lot more common than you think. Dealer said it's common even with only a couple hundred miles and it's fine because they usually FAIL within the original 3 year warranty! So if you get or have a California or 458 get a extended warranty as it's Bullshit that a clutch fails 60 days out of warranty. It started to fail three weeks after warranty by producing a error that would leave you stuck in traffic or on the highway requiring a restart to keep moving it slowly. Then clutch said it was overheating. Cheeky dealer said they would try calling Ferrari since they also own a GTS Convertible but Ferrari normally is unwilling to even reduce a part cost for customers with several cars and not to expect anything.

+Ruben Purchased 2014 as 2012 model with original warranty and certified pre-owned extended warranty until 2016. Original warranty was 3 years and 7 years is maintenance only. Other random issues have occurred and every time not under warranty including a $500 gas cap failure and other small things. Maybe I should make a KZbin video. Right now the gears randomly go up and down on its own. When you would try to change gears quickly it would throw the error stating bring it to the dealer. When you restart the car it would work normally. It would come and go. It was given to the dealer who drove 50 miles and then got the dreaded call that they needed to be called back immediately regarding the car. The Maserati GranTurismo Sport Convertible (2014) had it's whole HVAC unit fail and several small things like squeaking steering wheel that they can't fix. We are done with Ferrari and Maserati. Was actually going to test a F12 before this happened. If anyone has any interest or has had similar issues with a 458 or California please let me know.

Nobody ever said that Ferrari clutches shouldn't be subject to wear-and-tear. And who knows if your friend drove it like a granny or thrashed the hell out of it. Either way, wear-and-tear happens to every car no matter how much they cost. As far as this happening after the warranty ran out, oh well. It's just a coincidence. All the more reason to extend the warranty; you can get up to 12 years of it from Ferrari.

It's a dual clutch gearbox, it lasts the lifetime of the car. Wet clutch setups do not wear and do not operate like a single clutch and flywheel setup. Ferrari had occasional issues with the dct boxes in 09-10, have a lawyer contact ferrari NA for a goodwill repair and replacement. I have an ff and it's flawless over my 12k hard miles. Unfortunately like with any high performance mechanical machinery, it's not impervious to failure! I'm not a big ferrari guy however the ff and f12 are incredible and for me as my daily , nothing compares . Good luck and if you need help lmk

Why do people keep insisting on asking how much a car costs to fill up? All cars costs the same to fill up, the only difference is the volume of the fuel tank. So just because a car costs a lot to fill up doesn't mean it's more expensive to run than other cars. Or is that too logical to think that way?..

Great video guys! On the beginning, it didn't start because it didn't have enough fuel. You were most likely driving before and the engine was hot, and it heated the fuel rails enough so that the fuel inside them boiled (petrol has a low evaporating temp), so you were essentially trying to start the engine on vapor. As you turned the key again the pump primed the fuel system again, which was enough to start it. Common thing, no need to worry! :-)

Maybe, or it just had the engine immobilizer on for some reason and cycling the lock unlock turned the immobilizer off.
