Keen on an F12 and came across this. One point as well - the “cheap” car of the two you compared had been massacred by putting in the vents from the F12 TdF on the rear haunches. Usually this type of modification doesn’t sit well with prospective buyers (like 599 with GTO kits). Personally I think the reason is it makes you look ridiculous- like the Ferrari version of the guy with a BMW 320 with an M3 body kit and badges. Ferrari owners have a sense of community and no one wants to be laughed at by other owners when dropping 200k+ on a car.

I think for potential buyers of these cars, I'd be more concerned about depreciation per 1000 miles than the model year. I'd buy the car to drive it, not keep it in the garage for a year. Same thing I said about the NSX.

Does anyone know what data sources he might use? I have tried to find any data sources (for US markets) and have not found any. Looks like Ebay sales prices dont go that far back, and most other listing sites dont have historic sales. Car Gurus has a price chart, but lacks information like miles, color, transmission etc and looks to be based on median sale price.

Excellent analysis (as usual). The other variable is the demand for NA V12’s as electricfication becomes more dominant. Will the air cooled Porsche movement become a V12 movement? We likely have years to see if this happens. I bet it will for V12’s, V10’s and NA V8s.

I'm of the same mind set. I am grappling however with which car to buy? I've been reviewing and monitoring prices in the F12's and 458's. That said, I'm a bigger fan of the F12, it just does more for the soul IMO. The 458 however seems to have a better (at least for the moment) chance of price appreciation. Not looking to make a killing on my "garage princess" but would like to drive on for essentially free.

Can you tell us what the coefficients are: Mileage and Modell year? Spec is harder but as a percentage of MSRP clearly figures in as driven by the trade in value at Ferrari dealers. Lastly, may I ask what the offset from selling and asking prices are in this Segment? I love these videos. We all live on the depreciation curve segment we are most comfortable with absorbing.
@fourwheeltrader4 жыл бұрын
The coefficients are equal to the depreciaiton per year and per 1000 miles numbers. Unfortunatelly, I don't have any data about the selling prices. I don't think that it is freely available.

Thanks for the great video. I have a question - you typically mention depreciation/year and depreciation/1000 miles, are those 2 separate data points or should I be looking at both numbers cumulatively to get the total expected depreciation of the vehicle?
@fourwheeltrader4 жыл бұрын
Good question! You should look at them as two separate data points. The reason for this is that mileage and model year tend to be highly correlated. Therefore, you would be double counting the depreciation if you add them together. There are ways to separate the depreciation per year and per 1000 miles, but that's not included in the video.
@minabeshara59384 жыл бұрын
@@fourwheeltrader That makes perfect sense. Thank you and keep up the great work!
@timethief20653 жыл бұрын
one thing that wasnt taken into consideration is that most f12s are driven very little therefore withholding the low depre of 4.3 percent. If f12s were to be driven like a normal car. the depre will be through the roof.

@rudik54964 жыл бұрын
Very very cool analysis (I wish I could “Like” ++). Unfortunate that one of the 3 prices of the 2013 mod year is quite high and skews the forecasting. Just out of interest, how did you find that price sensitivity was x4 for miles rather than model year? (1-2 sentences high level explanation would be great)
@KyleBrightman4 жыл бұрын
There are statistical analyses that compare datasets to determine influence. Given enough datapoints and no other bias factors (example: certain trims have much lower mileage) it can be determined easily within the software he uses (Python).

hmmm...nobody wants a f12 about a year ago. You can find plenty of samples under 200k with decent miles, prob because of the 812 getting delivered. Post pandemic, the inventory dried up. It's silly to pay high 200s for a f12, when a 812 is coming down fast (or already is) into high 200s. The market "taste" does change drastically

Good vid - they have done their money be £2k a year to run now (insurance/service/tyres) plus a sniff of appreciation even - shame they are such a shit shower to drive - Ferrari loaned me one for a week at launch it lurched across the back axle flicking from left to right on tight roads making you very wary - bit like an early 2000s TVR Tuscan did....could not wait to give it back !!
