So. Yeah. One year ago, I watched one map video about the history of the world. That video led me to a Future Of Europe's video. I started to watch a lot of KZbin videos, encountering educational channels like Numberphile and VSauce. This led to my knowledge in English, geography, science, and general knowledge duplicated in one year. I now know what to do when grown up, and this has inspired me to do so many things that I'm proud of. The original video I saw was probably not of yours, but I wanted to say thank you. This kind of video has radically changed my life and led it to a better place. Thank Ollie, thanks KZbin.

@powerofediting16572 жыл бұрын
Hi! So, I’m having some trouble with that part. I’m pretty sure I did everything in the video, I put the rectangles in, I traced the borders with a pencil, and then I put two more rectangles over it. However, some weird things were happening with the colors, I.e. the second color wouldn’t always change when I click on a different color. Also, when I tried to use the eraser to bring out the borders, it would work. Nothing happened when I right clicked a and dragged the mouse. Am I doing something wrong, or is it the computer’s fault? I’m using windows 10 btw
@jeidikei2 жыл бұрын
@@powerofediting1657 If I am correct, the second colour box is kinda buggy and sometimes to change it to another colour you have saved you need to click a random colour THEN the one you want. And the tracing only works if you have just pasted the images in, so if the tracing isnt working CTRL+A select the whole page, CTRL+C copy it, then make a new document and CTRL+V Paste it and try then.

Ollie Bye so you create hundreds of slides where the only change is the date? How do you do it, I'd assume that you paste the picture in ms paint, erase the date and write the next one and repeat the cycle, is that what you do? Or is there an easier way

MS Paint does not have an easier way nor Paint.net. It would be easier if you could just edit the text instead of deleting it and writing the new date, Because it takes ours for even to get to 50 frames.

Wow this looks laborious. If you didn't enjoy the prcess, I would feel bad. Also that is a feature I never knew existed in paint, so thank you for showing this to us. Now, although this may not useful most of the time, I would strongly suggest looking into segmentation techniques. There should be something in there that could speed up the process of drawing over the edges of the map. Then again I know from experience that just drawing over lines using simple tools without having to worry about any kind of technicalities can be quite pleasant. Anyhow keep up the good work, and congratulations on your milestone. I have enjoyed every video you've made so far.
@OllieBye8 жыл бұрын
+Neelien It wouldn't speed things up as much as you think - I usually make "every year" videos, meaning that most of slides slides exhibit no change other than the date.
@Neancit8 жыл бұрын
+Ollie Bye (History) Sorry I may not have been very clear. I realise that this would only speed up the initial "drawing" of the map. Looking at the way you evolve the map over different frames, this happens through relatively small changes and high level methods would probably slow you down more so than anything else. (This is also probably why you prefer paint to gimp) I'm also a programming oriented person, so scripting this would probably my way to do something like this, but that in itself can be quite the hassle. I'm pretty bad at expressing myself sometimes. Also, thanks again for all the videos.
