This was the siren that I heard for the first time at the elementary school right next to it, after moving from Florida where we have no sirens whatsoever. A couple tornado sirens here and there, but it’s just not a thing in Florida unfortunately. This went off and I strictly remember mouthing to my teacher “what is that????” And it was explained to me. I lived there for 6 years and became interested in siren types etc. So cool to see the actual one that i heard for the first time in person! Literally across the street from us, so the Florida boy had NO idea what was going on lol.

Good to hear it was fixed instead of replaced. And don't bother repainting it, the salty air and blazing sunlight gives the paint hell. Just keep it from rusting and it'll be fine.

You can set your account to play in HQ if you go to My Account->Account->Video Playback Quality. If the person's video was uploaded in stereo, just add "fmt=18" to the end of the url.

Today DEM tested it (Wed 4-22-2009) at 11:30 AM it was just a growl test twice. I was at home and I called to ask and they said it was just a test and the DEM office was just notified of it as well. There were no previous news of this test anywhere so this was a surprise.

Wow! Very nice. And i used to go to the school located next to this siren. Very disturbing. but in some odd way, I enjoyed it. :) And i think thats a 7 as well. Very high pitched. And when i was at the school, it sounded so smooth from where i was, it didnt have barely any start up charge that made it sound different. I really Like the Thunderbolt 1000T Tsunami siren in Hawai'i It's Amazing it's better than the American Thunderbolt's 😊❤❤

I use a Roland Edirol R-09. It has a built-in cardioid stereo mic, but I record sirens with a pair of Sound Professionals SP-TFB-2 binaural in ear microphones. I recommend a binaural setup for added realism and true human stereo replication. As for music and other types of much quieter recording, I'd go with the R-09HR for the lower noise floor.

Are you using a stereo microphone attached to your video camera? I am looking for a better audio quality for my DVD Camcorder and I was wondering if a stereo microphone would be the best option. Not only do I record sirens I also record my instruments and concerts.

No. ASC T-135/P50 is @ 135 dB @ 100ft. Chrysler Air Raid Siren was louder

As of 2021 is has been replaced by a Modulator 6024B about a quarter of a mile west.
