Such a bitter sweet feeling. My wife and myself have been staycationing on Estero Blvd for over 20 years. We have been all over the world and seen some beautiful things but Ft. Meyers was always “our spot”. I get such deep emotional feelings of happiness and so many great memories come flashing back while watching the same roads and sights I have seen so many times before during this video. I am retired NYPD and I have witnessed many sad and tragic things during that time including being there on 9/11. And without a doubt these were the two times in my life that brought tears to this mans eyes.

Thank you for your service it's people like you that make this dream a reality. As for this destruction we rebuilt on the same ground where the twins towers once was successfully. But can we rebuild again in the path of these hurricanes? I would choose a better community plan and building codes that incorporates new ideas for withstanding hurricanes.

Tourists & American vacationers don't want nature or roughing it in tents ... they demand air conditioned hotels wth views of the ocean & sound of the waves *within walking distance of the beach*.. so do the milliinaires in fancy homes. And surfers, beach bums. And those who love gold & tennis. ... AHA!!! this requires towns with amenities like grocery stores & gas stations & CHEAP INFRASTRUCTURE to house all those disposable minimum wage workers that care for the tourists & vacationers who generate all that business revenue for the state of Florida -- the state is not about to give up that revenue and turn it into a nature preserve! $$$ talks.

Lee County Officials cost lives, no matter what they say. NOAA issued a Hurricane Warning for the entire Lee County Coast on Tuesday at 5AM, with a Major Cat 3 at that time predicted at landfall. Any emergency management leader would see what inundation maps would have shown with Lee County being on the southwest side of a possible landfall. It would have shown exactly what happened. Yet they chose to not even place mandatory evacuations on the actual coastline til 5PM Tuesday. Those 12 hours were absolutely deadly. plus the delaying gave people a false sense that they were safe, and the risk was not as great. No doubt, and even I wont dispute it, many people STILL would not have left. But there's a good bet many more WOULD have left if the mandatory orders had been sooner and in line with the counties north and south of them.

I lived directly on the gulf in Panama city Beach Florida in a 3/2, my wife and I loved it it was so peaceful till the season hit. We would come home at night from work and turn off the power so nothing running in the house would interfere with the sound of the wind and the small waves. House is gone now, land became to valuable. When we first got married we had an efficiency directly on the Atlantic on Tybee Island, I would make our coffee in the morning then go out on the beach an throw a lb of bacon in the air and it would never hit the ground, the gulls would rip it apart. During the season we'd wake up and the tourists would have our driveway blocked or we'd look out the window and there would be a couple on a blanket laying there, we got to meet alot of people that way lol. Some nights on Panama city Beach we would take the dinner cruise on Captain Andersons ship that went out for 4 hours. I wonder if they are still around. It's a good life.

Heat waves, droughts, fires and heavy rains that cause severe flooding have become more frequent in many parts of the world due to climate change, which affects the entire worldwide population. The Earth is facing a “triple planetary crisis,” warn UN officials. Climate disruption, nature and biodiversity loss, and pollution and waste are the main areas of concern regarding the current state of the environment. This year, the Earth Day’s theme is “Invest In Our Planet,” so what would humanity's best investment for the planet be? We need to start by cleaning up the planet. There is no place on Earth where the air and water are clean, and that's a real problem. In theory, tackling this issue should be our priority when it comes to taking action to improve the dismal state of our planet. But let’s not fool ourselves. Such a plan alone will solve nothing. It will only help the international organizations to justify their own existence. They tick off "done" to raise as much money as they want, and that's it. If we do not improve relations between us, we will not be able to achieve the great and ambitious improvement in nature that we want and need to attain globally. We will never achieve a good result through bureaucratic, mechanical measures. There are a lot of people sitting in their comfortable offices profiting from the environmental crisis and demanding money and respect. They keep flying from one end of the world to the other on all kinds of missions to make a lot of noise with what they are "doing" and which everyone "needs to hear" as if that alone means something is happening, but in practice we see no real progress. The Earth must also be cleansed of them, of these people who engage in useless campaigns that only cause harm because they mislead the world, leading it away from the real solution. The cleaning of the planet should start inside out. If we do not clean the planet from within, and continue with our reckless behavior and the selfish nature of our hearts as before, nothing will change for the better. The immense sums invested in environmental initiatives should be directed to spreading an educational process aimed at improving the way we relate to each other. Humans are the most developed and influential factors of all of nature's levels: still, vegetative, animate and human. Since we occupy the highest level in nature, positively affecting the environment, the climate, and nature in general can be achieved by reaching positive relations among us. On the contrary, by letting our divisive drives tear apart human relations, we also destroy our surrounding environment, the very nature that our lives depend on. The more we humans are able to correct ourselves by changing our divisive attitudes toward each other into positive attitudes of mutual support, encouragement, mutual responsibility, and reciprocal concern, the more we will receive positive feedback from nature. And the more we develop without making this necessary correction, the more negative feedback we will receive from nature, as we have experienced in the form of natural disasters, pandemics. It is of utmost importance for us to organize our thoughts, desires and qualities so that we understand that saving the environment and a shift to a better future depend solely on changing our attitudes to each other: from antagonistic egoism to positive, compassionate and cooperative relationships. .
