10:1 worm gear set from Amazon review (updated) 8/1/24

Hi friend! In this video, I'm comparing a10:1 worm gear set from Amazon vs. one from Pitsco Education. I also show a wood-carved figurine I made for Ducelick's whirligig.
The gears from Amazon are cheaper, but they take 3 weeks to arrive. The gears from Pitsco Education arrive very quickly, but the shipping costs $10, so the total cost for gears is around $29, vs. $16.83 for the Amazon gears, so you can save quite a bit of money if you're willing to wait 3 weeks.
Unfortunately, I've come to find out this gear set is not as advertised, and is actually a 20:1 worm gear set.

After testing, I find this gear set is 20:1, not 10:1 like the packaging and online description says. This makes for a slow rowing rower.

The sculp is wonderful!!! I could not be more pleased. I love the Peaches on the shoes and the belt buckle. This whirligig is going to be fantastic. More than I could have ever hoped for.

Nice to have an alternate supplier for parts . Sounds like you would have to plan ahead if you used the Amz gear set. But price may be the deciding factor. Thanks Todd and have a great week my friend
