I just bought a chinese carb and the throttle was set up just like yours. I actually had to change it to the "incorrect" orientation you showed so the governor on my generator worked properly as it is up normaly in a WOT position untill the generator stars and the the governor pulls down on the linkage to close it and regulate the speed. simple 3min job to change the throttle orientation. Kept the old carb to rebuild at a later date.

I absolutely loved rebuilding mine without any new parts or rebuild kit and no experience with this style of carb one bitter cold 4am morning in the dark and in the bed of my truck with hardly any space to move around and only my phone light and a flathead screwdriver and some shellac because my old Welder decided it wanted to tease and only turn on for about 10 seconds and then starve itself off, thankfully I had another Welder in the exact same model I had gotten ripped off with and cannibalised what little I could since it was in worse shape lol and I didn't know about the emulsion tube and messed it up a bit, now that I see yours I think mine is either different or missing parts. Which is bad cause I depend entirely on this welder
@ZippoVarga Жыл бұрын
Whatever you do, do NOT Buy one of those cheap Chinesium knock off replacement carbs! You'll instantly regret it. There were a couple different variations of basically the same carburetor. I can only imagine yours takes 4 screws to hold the bowl to the carb upper. 9hp and below had this 3 screw carb and 10hp and up had the 4 screw. Email me at the email address in the Description with your engine model, type and code and I'll send you a parts manual. Zip~

I have always tested the main jet and adjusted at WOT. Also,I always start 1 1/2 out on the main, but only 1/2 out on the idle. Almost always ballpark right. God bless.
@ZippoVarga4 жыл бұрын
The idle wound up being about 3/4, so your initial settings fit in line with this idle circuit. The Main wound up being about the same in this case. Each engine is always different! But I am inclined to agree with you on the initial idle setting for the most part. Cheers and thanks for the tip Matthew! Cheers! Zip~

@ZippoVarga4 жыл бұрын
That's pretty common on engines that have sat for a long time. A good soaking in PB Blaster or Evaporust can help matters if the slot isn't all buggered up. I've drilled the emulsion tubes out before, but you've got to be super careful to not hit the threads. Cheers! Zip~

So you're saying there's a possibility I'm saving my original carburetor on my SS15. Were you able to get that jet out or did you have to drill it? cuz my carburetor jet is Frozen in there I had let it boiled in hot water and all types of solutions. Around the head offthe jet appears to be fully cleaned out and all the jet holes are operating just fine, the man bummer on my carburetor is where you hook the float to those two little teeth brackets are totally broke off. Do you think it's junk nowwell because you'd have to JB weld something to hold the float on
@ZippoVarga4 жыл бұрын
You will need to locate a replacement due to the tabs for the float being gone.

Hello zippo,, i just want to ask about my carburetor, the hole where the main jet is being inserted is stripped,what can i do to fix this stripped thread,, pls..reply
@ZippoVarga4 жыл бұрын
Even I have trouble in this area with my specialty taps in hand. Often, if it's the only carburetor within 100 miles, I suggest very carefully drilling the main emulsion tube (Jet) out, staying away from the threads, then giving the carburetor a thorough bath in Evaporust for a good 24 hours to remove any oxidation, then finding the 5/16 32 specialty tap and chasing the threads as well as polishing the mating surface at the base of the emulsion tube hole in the carburetor. These carb bodies are made of pot metal and are very soft. So care has to be taken. Good Luck! Zip~
