SWEET !!! What would we do without air. Thanks for the carb clean. I have only done a handfull (6???) of the updraft carbs Bigger tillers and pull type rotovators. Briggs of course. First time I almost bent the emulsion tube by not removing it before taking the carb apart. This one's gasket almost looks like the one on my 18 Briggs opposed twin. I learned the draining gas problem isn't the needle the hard way years ago.

always enjoy revising the carb rebuild videos. The carb on the 12HP in the "Princess" was rebuilt @ the local dealer. Lord knows if the tech really paid attention to the float when the upper body (original warped) was replaced. The carb is a 4-bolt w/ a manual choke lever.

Hey Zippo, Thanks for your many helpful videos. I know this is an old video and you're likely not checking comments, but just in case... I have a question. At 19:44 you mention that weeping around the gasket is normal. Why is that? Is it because you leave it a little loose so you don't strip out the threads? But yeah,...It's been my experience that weeping everywhere is normal with a Briggs updraft...including from the owner when he's trying to get it to stop leaking. They're a good carb once you accept the drips.
@ZippoVarga5 жыл бұрын
There is a weep hole with a brass check ball for allowing for pressure equalization where I point it out. I've got a few videos on the Up Draft, but check the latest two for an important leaking carb fix at the root of the problem. Tighten the bowl screws down. The vent will do its job and after watching the recent videos, hopefully you will be able to remedy your leaking carb issue. If there is WAY too much fuel leaking from around the gasket, I would suspect a needle and float issue. They should not constantly leak. Cheers! Zip~

Does it matter how many holes main gasket has other than screw holes ? Some have two holes one each side of main center hole then some have additional smaller hole on one end of gasket. Excellent video

I just rebuilt mine per this video. I have an issue however. I put the emulsion tube in and before going all the way in, it stops my throttle flap from turning. It wont go into a hole, it will only ride into that groove and up to the flap. Why wont it go into a hole as you say it does?

Agreed! another great tip, and now I need some more help, please. Newly rebuilt ( thanks to your help) B&S #302431 ( 13 HP Horiz shaft Biggs from 1973). It drives a Simplicity Baron 3414S that I lent to my neighbor ( young couple in need of a mower and few $ to spare). It was running fine, then backfired ( by his account) and now I cant keep running, although I have compression and spark. I noticed the welsh plug ( I think that's what is called) was missing from the end of the carb. So I rebuilt carb, and it leaked so I remembered seeing this video and I came back to it to fix leak. leak now fixed, jets adjusted, and same problem: I can get started but won't stay running. I'm vexed. Any suggestions?

Rebuild kit number is 291763. Simply Google Briggs and that number and you will get numerous results. Some kits have a newer number, but sellers should reference the older number I've given. Forewarning, there will be extra parts. That's Normal! Use only what you take off the old carburetor. Good Luck! And Thanks for all you do! Zip~

You may have the answer to my question ..The emulsion tube from my new Briggs 16 hp carb has 4 spots for holes right below where the tube seats ..only 2 holes are drilled you showed that your's has at least 1 drilled .Is this really important since you showed it is for fuel draining back ?

@@not2fast4u2c The problem there is....there is no good way to remedy the numerous issues those carburetors have. Great vid. A new subscriber here. I'm working on the same carb here. When I was ready to take my emulsion tube out I noticed the screwdriver slot was all buggared. Is there any way I can get it out and have it still useable? I am thinking of drilling it out and use an easy out if there isn't any other way. If I do,would you be willing to sell me a rebuild kit for it? Thank you. It's going on an old 1971 8 h.p Briggs garden tractor.

First off, thanks for Subscribing. Second, your rebuild kit is #291763. Just Google it and you'll find plenty of kits out there. Be very careful extracting the old Emulsion Tube out. The threads on the carburetor are a 5/16-32 and it's a specialty tap that's near impossible to find. Zip~

Hi Zippo, thanks for the awesome videos. I have seen all your videos and have taken all your advice but unfortunately I am still having problems with my Briggs carburettor leaking and flooding. I have taken your advice on the emulsion tube but the carburettor still leaks. The carburettor is an after market carburettor and the needle seems to be a bit to sloppy and is no way as tight as the one you have shown in the video. Should I undertake a vacuum test to make sure it is seating or is your blow test sufficient. Thanks
