Huge fan of Carbonnieux (and Bordeaux Blancs)! Fantastic you included Suduiraut. They’re a stellar Sauternes producer who I think rivals d’Yquem at a fraction of the price. Living here, I can attest you have jewels on your list. Plus the extensive info you include with each… so helpful. Always interesting to see the under $50 Bordeaux selections from someone so well versed in Bordeaux!

Thanks for the informative Video! Me and the wife are throwing a bordeaux themed new years eve this year and we are planning on pairing some Sauternes with foie gras. At the moment we are thinking about trying Rieussec from a recommendation on another channel, we have already tried the Suduiraut and were kind of dissapointed (maybe more because of the food pairing than the quality of the sauternes). Hopefully I can get my hands on some Gruaud Larose 1982 too, i bought some on primeur this year though i have not yet sampled any. Some 1982 second-5th growths are a steal and would love to try before others finds out!
@AttorneySomm
@AttorneySomm 2 жыл бұрын
Rieussec is a solid choice too. Be a little careful with the 1982s as many are getting a little tired now. 90s are showing better now across the board and are also generally less expensive than 82.

@@Smiding 1990 is definitely my favorite. 91-94, and 97 are down. 95 can be tannic. 96 & 98 are pretty solid. 99 is showing well now and reasonably priced.

I’m just on your first recommendation and I feel like commenting already.😁That’s how awesome and relevant this video is! Okay, I’ll start with Pagodes de Cos. I was supposed to get this recently, but a different vintage. However, my wine cellar shop ran out of stocks. They’re currently waiting for the new shipment but I’m not sure if it’s going to be 2018 or 2019. It might be 2018. In any event, I have already reserved a bottle. Should I make it two? Or three?😁 I’ll continue watching your video and comment again later. Thank you for this amazing new video, John. Santé!

I’ve been eyeing the 2009 & 2010 Cos d’Estournel but according to some people, 😁 they are not ready to drink. I am interested in their second wine, Pagodes de Cos, and will look for it. I had no idea about this. Thank you for this very informative video. I feel like I am getting a lesson every week on here. I would like to request a video on Central and Southern Italian wines to help me with my studies. Thank you in advance, John.

Thanks very much, Gina! The 09 may be one that you could try a bit earlier as that vintage is more approachable. 2010 definitely needs more time though. The Pagodes is a terrific choice to enjoy younger. Appreciate the suggested topics! Cheers!

Excellent video John !!! I will look into some of your recommendations since $50 is what I am precisely looking to buy right now as I am stocked in the upper level Bdx, specially 19´s. I know that they are not $50 but in the $35-$40, but I would add to the list Ch.Tour St.Cristophe and my favourite : Ch. Laroque. Enjoy your day and thanks!
@AttorneySomm

Thanks very much! Very glad it was useful. Completely agree with you re: Ch. Tour St. Christophe, but I included that one in my previous $50 Bordeaux video so was trying to avoid duplication. Laroque is another excellent wine. That one is in my $40 video, as it is a bit less pricey here. Cheers!

Great video as always. I have 6 of your 10 in my cellar 😊. Did you see the recent news on the almost 5 million bottles of counterfeit Bordeaux sold from 2013 to 2019. They used cheap Spanish wine and passed them off as table wine from Bordeaux but also Margaux, Saint Emilion, Pomerol, Saint Julien too. I’ve not been able to find the fake labels. Do you think a video on how to spot fakes would be of interest to your subscribers? Cheers.

How do I purchase bottles using futures?
@AttorneySomm
@AttorneySomm Жыл бұрын
A number of retailers sell them. Wine dot com, for example. If you're looking for 2021 or 2022 vintages, just try running a search in wine searcher dot com for the wine you are interested in and it will show hits where it is available. Or you can probably see all 2022 Bordeaux, for example, if you search for that on wine dot com or the site of other retailers that carry futures.

I used to work for a guy named Bob Bofman who was the former manager of Sam's in Chicago. We visited Bordeaux one year (the only time I've been). I've added an article from a UK newspaper about insider knowledge that wine drinkers can benefit from. I'd be interested to learn of other insider knowledge from around the world...just a thought. Jean-Michel Comme of Château Pontet-Canet has his own vineyard, Château du Champs des Treilles in Saint-Foy Bordeaux. ex-Petrus winemaker Jean-Claude Berrouet’ has an eight-hectare (20-acre) estate Vieux Château Saint André, in Montagne-Saint-Émilion. Even less well known is his 1.5-hectare (3.75-acre) Lalande de Pomerol, Château Samion. A good bet is Château Cantelys from the Smith Haut Lafitte team. Château Capbern Gasqueton from the Calon-Ségur team. Château les Ormes-de-Pez from the Cazes family of Lynch-Bages For white, their utterly delicious Château Villa Bel-Air from Graves) Château de Fonbel from the Vauthier family of Ausone Amandine Giret of Château Côtes de Rigaud in Puisseguin-Saint-Émilion Despagne family at Château Mont-Pérat and Château Tour De Mirambeau Patrick Carteyron at Château Penin The Courselles at Château Thieuley. But there are a few other names in this little-trumpeted region that should be, well, trumpeted. The Ducourts are definitely one of them. try Château la Rose du Pin white??
