Fever caused disorientation, it would throw the timing off causing the botch. I had a high fever once from food poisoning and I slept on the couch, not because it was closer to the bathroom but because I was too disoriented to try climbing the stairs to my bedroom. Tbf, there are a lot of factors for his botching. Language barrier (and either difficulties or straight up refusal to learn English), working the wrong side, and dim mood lighting combined with his mask that affected visibility. But even despite all that, he was a very clumsy wrestler.

I grew up in Jonesboro, Arkansas. I remember Del Rio, aka Spellbinder. Who eventually became Phantom. I will never understand why a huge jacked up guy like him who had experience was only given one chance when guys like Bastion Booger were around for years. They could have given him a new gimmick. Personally I think with a little work , the gimmick could have went over. Especially back in the gimmick era of the early 90s. For what it's worth Del Rio said that the Undertaker went to Vince telling him that the Phantasio character resembled his too much and pressured Vince on letting it go. That's pretty low if true. Spellbinder was my favorite when I would go to the local USWA Wrestling shows. Vince loved big jacked guys and I just don't understand why it didn't work. I don't see how it resembled the Undertaker at all. I think Undertaker was afraid of a young jacked up good looking Babyface coming in and stealing his spotlight.

Buff was buried, that match with Booker was terrible booking. Had they waited just one week and done the WCW thing on the next Raw it would have been soooo much different. Why? The next Raw was held in none other than Atlanta - WCW's home city and Buff's home town. On top of that, putting Gene on play-by-play commentary was a terrible use of him. Further, Buff had no heat with Booker and wasn't in the title scene yet. There was no build whatsoever. DDP would have been a far better option to go against Booker for sure, but of course he was busy being buried too.

If you look at someone like Owens he was hurt and helped from injuries more then probably anybody on the roster today. His debut was hugely different due to the injure of Sami Zayn. If if not for that injury who knows when Owens debuts on the main roster or what they do with him. He could have had a shit debut and then booked to shit like Bo Dallas. Yet due to the injury of Zayn it was Owens that got called up and not Zayn. And was instantly inserted in a feud with Cena. Matching Cena on the mic in his debut then dropping Cena stomping the US title and holding up the NXT. And then not to long after he beats Cena clean in his debut. So he was instantly made after that. The next injury that helped him was to his other best friend in the WWE Finn Balor. Which is the only reason Owens got the Universal Title put around him. Then after that I would say he was helped a bit by his own injury. As this was during the time Zayn and Owens losing a feud to Shane and then being fired and not be used for long periods of time. Only to return and both be nothing but lower mid card heels putting over faces So his heel character was running on fumes and he needed a change. But then again an injury hurt him this time very badly. As Owens was getting set to return to tv any day. And the plan was for Owens to return as a babyface and then challenge and beat DB at WM for the WWE Championship. Yet due to Mustafa Ali getting hurt before Elimination Chamber. Kofi was given a chance in a gauntlet match getting the entire WWE universe behind him. Putting up another amazing showing at EC and pressuring Vince to put the title on him at Mania. All while Owens had to debut to steal Kofi spot which is dumb move to do to a returning face. And then due to yet another injury this time to DB instead of Owens just staying a face and getting a push. They needed someone to face Kofi at the least minute. So decided to turn Owens heel a few weeks after returning as a face for the first time ever in WWE. Then again his injury against Seth Rollins at this years WM hurt him again. Had a ton of momentum yet it was all lost. Rollins went on to face Drew for the title and then start a great feud with Rey. All while Owens has been lost in the shuffle.

I had to rewind it back like 2x because for some reason I swore Scott Hudson was actually Baron Corbin and that you guys just photo shopped him in for some reason just to highlight just how absurd and bad the match was. Phantasio's worst fail in his debut was when he did the "endless streamers from the mouth" gag that all bad magicians do at kids' birthday parties. He took the spit-sodden streamers and handed them to some poor random kid at ringside! The poor kid looked at his dad as if to say "what the fuck do I do with this shit here?" But his dad just laughed at him.
