I love seeing videos like this, people's opinion's change and it's great to see how some things both wither and grow on people. Now for me personally... I have a bit of a weird situation when it comes to this topic because I don't feel like I found my true musical loves until long after I became a music nut. I started off mostly as a metal person back in middle school, where my first two bands I got super obsessed over where Metallica and Dream Theater, to the point where I could name every single track off of every single Metallica album, in order, and likely get most of their track times down to the second. I could still probably do that... but I also haven't listened to a Metallica album ever since their last album came out back in 2016, and even that was breaking like a 2-3 year gap, so they have basically been completely phased out of my listening rotation entirely and I have no desire to go back to them. This applies to about 90% of those artists.... many of which I could say I outright despise now so I guess that's a change in opinion lol (Some artists I have returned to recently, like Dream Theater, that I found I still do in fact love... but those are few and far between tbh) Where my musical taste really began to take shape to become what it is today is when... bear with me please, when I discovered the LB vs JS remix for the song Dreams of an Absolution from the Sonic 06' soundtrack, which basically took a Daft Punk-like eurodance-ish track (it literally contains a s sample of Music Sounds Better With You and is smothered in autotune) and turned it into this super uplifting electronic rock song... that I absolutely loved! I still love that version to this day and it's basically my Halcyon equivalent, if only because of it being the origin point of where my taste has has gone, and even though I find it a bit embarrassing to play in public nowadays... it still puts me in a good move and it's new wavered! It was from here and me trying to find similar things I discovered artists like Pendulum from a friend playing them randomly (and really their songs Crush & Witchcraft are the only things I can think of that sound even close to Dreams... and that's 4 years after the fact). I also discovered Nine Inch Nails through a youtube let's play of DOOM and their Easter Egg, and then Trent Reznor went on to become my #1 musical obsession for YEARS. I also discovered super-underrated talents like Julien-K, Comaduster & Voicians.... but of course, the big two that alongside NIN complete my "Grand Trio" or whatever, are BT and Celldweller, and at this point Klayton has effectively replaced Trent as being my absolute favorite... probably has since 2015-2016 and I just haven't admitted it to myself until now. I'd also like to add that you alone have given me a much broader range and appreciation of electronic music. I mean I already liked it well enough, but you singlehandledly got me to check out Orbital, Underworld, Squarepusher & Boards of Canada, you made me go back and revisit Deadmau5's (while 1>2), which since then has become a huge personal favorite... I STILL need to check out Jean-Michelle Jarre because of your reviews AND you got me off my ass to finally go listen to Goldie, despite me always being a big D&B fan. Anyways, not that my musical backstory has been explain as to why I don't have too many options to pick from (I really just wanted to get all of this out of my system and figured this would be a decent video to do it on lol), here's some that I can actually talk about... from all over my history. 01. Celldweller - Offworld: I already talked about this one before multiple times, but in a nutshell: I originally thought this album was pure mood music that is now a personal favorite that I will defend more than most people. I'll even put it over the much revered S/T album that I mostly see as being a transition album between Circle of Dust and Celldweller, that has some amazing highs, but very low lows, and sounds very dated outside of a few songs. (HOT TAKE?) 02. ECO - Wolves: I literally had you make a review on this album because of how it went from a 7.3 - 7.5 album to a 9.0 - 9.3 album for me. 03. Deadmau5 - (while 1>2): Literally just talked about this one. This one was mostly a combination of your review and me gaining a much greater knowledge of electronic music for it to turn into a favorite. Doesn't help that a huge chunk of it became study music for me. 04. Metallica - ...And Justice For All: I've actually reheard Metallica fairly recently and this one stuck me as being the one that I've fallen out of the most favor with. The best way to listen to this album are through fan remasters that fix a lot of the extremely stupid production decisions (some of which literally made out of spite), but even then there are a bunch of song writing choices that are extremely questionable. The title track and The Shortest Straw essentially copy-paste themselves past the halfway mark, Eye of the Beholder is boring as hell and easily one of the worst songs of 80's Metallica, To Live is To Die has some extremely questionable post-production decisions on it, etc. Blackened, One, Harvester of Sorrow & Dyers Eve are still awesome though. I used to think this was the best 80's Metallica album, so yeah this is a complete turnover. 05. Dream Theater - A Dramatic Turn of Events: I don't really know how to quantify this one. I've always thought of this as a mixed bag, but I now kind of see it as a more extreme mixed bag. On The Backs of Angels, Breaking All Illusions & Bridges In The Sky are all fantastic, especially Breaking All Illusions which I did not give nearly enough credit back in high school... but literally every even numbered song other than Breaking is either really dull or just straight bad *cough* Build Me Up, Break Me Down *cough*, and then the other's aren't anything you couldn't get better on other albums. 06. Nine Inch Nails - The EP Trilogy (Not The Actual Events, Add Violence & Bad Witch): This is a weird one. I've always liked these EPs, but I've always found them extremely difficult to approach and really appreciate and enjoy properly.... that was until I browsed up and down the NIN forums and Reddit and I started finding people putting the 3 EPs together to form a singular album. There are a bunch of them, but this one: imgur.com/RmiVQgm which I then combined with this cover www.reddit.com/r/nin/comments/9teye5/cold_and_black_and_infinite_album_cover_i_made/ to create a proper album that makes sense and flows well to me. This allowed me to appreciate these much more and enjoy them as a full body of work that I think is the best Trent has done sense Year Zero.... Not really sure how much I can count this though, because it is modifying what you are listening to, but this was such a unique experience I had to mention it. That's all of the notable ones. I've recently been getting back into a bunch of older stuff I used to listen to and finding some enjoyment, but I've got nothing to say from that well. Anyways I hope you have enjoyed this ridiculous comment lol (which btw got accidentally deleted like 3-4 times and I had to redo half of it each time). Keep making awesome videos Tommy!

My thoughts on each album you covered 1. New Energy is not Four Tet’s best work, but somehow it clicked instantly with me. I loved the chill atmosphere and the satisfying production! Yeah the interludes were quite unnecessary but I love everything else! There’s a reason it was one of the few Four Tet albums I owned on vinyl. 2. Still love this album! Reflexion, Wide Open, Go, I’ll See You There and EML Ritual are all amazing and even the weaker songs like Taste of Honey, Just Bang and Under Neon Lights are all still good! The deluxe edition also has Wo-Ha which is amongst my favourite Chemical Brothers songs ever. 3 - Still mind-blown by songs like Nobody Speak, Ashes To Oceans, Mambo and Bergschrund especially! Additionally, the title track is amongst my top 5 favourite songs from DJ Shadow period. 4. Nope not my thing. I don’t really like Orchestral albums and even though there are so many amazing original songs that were remixed here, the overall package felt unnecessary when you have the astounding original songs to listen to. 5. Ok I have to disagree with you. I had so much fun listening to this and I really liked most if not all of the vocal performances. Also Atomic Food is god tier. 6. Not listened to this. Sounds alright though! 7. Still really like this despite not listening to it in full for ages! Some of these tracks are so incredible and I always feel joy whenever they show up on my rotation! Yes it is very samey but when the key sound is this good, I don’t mind that much. 8. Sounds great! Haven’t listened to it though. 9. Pretty decent but I never really listen to any songs in my own time outside of I Exhale. 10. Absolutely amazing album by a band I have complicated feelings about! Definitely agree with you!

Great video, love to see fleshed out opinions. Also, I need to bring this new Thys album to your attention. Noisia, as a group has always impressed me with being able to make quite "heavy dubstep" sounds sound really good, to the point where Noisia is now one of the only dubstep/dnb artists from that 10-15 era that I listen to. Earlier last month Noisia announced that they would be breaking up, as they have completed their musical goal. Now we have Thys, Thys is one of the members from Noisia who has without a doubt released probably my favourite electronic album of the year, the album (Music from Sleeping Beauty Dreams) came out yesterday, safe to say it is stunning and twisted. I can see this release going under the radar, but I hope it doesn't. I really encourage you to give it a listen and maybe give it a review. I would really love to hear your opinion on Noisia and what you think of the new material that Thys is releasing solo.

Yeah I went back and saw that your review of the album was indeed positive. I think I said that because I was surprised that you considered that your least favorite album out of his discography.

Totally agree about Air's 'Pocket Symphony' (and the BT album.) I find myself increasingly coming back to that Air album, and I think it is pretty underrated and very unique. Recently I seem to have fallen in love with it in a whole new way...perhaps because it's genius is quite subtle. But genius it is: the harmonies, sounds, moods...all amazing, and only getting better with time. The only track I don't think I'll ever enjoy is "One Hell of a Party". But otherwise, wonderful. Just like all Air albums, to be honest. But yeah, that B.T project I really didn't connect with at all.

I have given it some thought and I think it's entirely possible that when dealing with an album that has songs present on it that require you to repeatedly listen to in order to have a full understanding of, you might end up not liking it due to being exhausted of hearing it so many times already once you do finally understand it. If true, then maybe once you return to it after a long enough amount of time for it to not feel overplayed anymore and you don't have to spend a ton of time trying understand it this time around, then maybe you'll suddenly decide you now like the song you previously didn't. I haven't thought about the opposite effect yet, with a song or album you once enjoyed becoming one you dislike or like less later. What made me think of all this, is my recent astonishment with what all exactly goes on that causes you, me, or anyone else to change there mind about an album or song when returning to it after a considerable amount of time. It would certainly be nice to know.

This review made me buy new energy (I already have rounds). I love albums that grow on me. Haven’t listened to it yet though, waiting for a good time to listen to it. Bought a bunch of other stuff too. I’m going broke buying electronic albums 😅.

My opinion of Born in the Echoes went up, but it's still their weakest *album*. Still has some great tracks, but I'm not into tracks, I'm into albums. I haven't heard that MBM yet, but been into them since they started-- well, I didn't like the Wax Trax stuff, though I tried. Might now, should check it out again. I have a buddy that worships Jack Dangers. Dude is super talented, has his own thing going. I *love* Underworld, probably said so before...but it hit a plateau for me. Everything after Everything , Everything was just meh, here. Haven't heard anything since except for your reviews. Nothing to say about the others. :) Happy Weekend, dude.

As a swede i was sick of how much hype the Swedish edm djs(such as galantis) had back in the early 2010s. Frankly, am glad that it's over. Because for me, swedish electronic music is pretty much non existence. Even the club culture has no charm around here. It's just so bleak and wannabe german with really cheesy techno spinning 24/7. I bet my country is just trying to be the capital of hipsters.

Did you just say that No Geography is "so much more vivid and memorable" than Born In The Echoes? I must be hearing things! For me, No Geography is the worst project The Chemical Brothers have ever done; in fact, it is the ONLY project of theirs that I actually dislike. The reason for that is because of how mind-numbingly UNmemorable it is. All of the songs awkwardly blur together into one long unpleasant experience, and once the album is finished, not a single part sticks in the mind. Now, I'm not gonna say that Born In The Echoes is a masterpiece, but it is CERTAINLY more memorable. Go is possibly the catchiest track they've ever made, and it's simply brilliant. I've never understood the dislike for Sometimes I Feel So Deserted, because again, it is just SO catchy and memorable, and the production is fantastic. The title track is also memorable because of the distinctive vocal performance and frantic drumbeat, Taste Of Honey is delightfully weird and is a definite highlight, Let Us Build A City is a fantastic throwback to early Chemical Brothers. Even Wide Open stands out simply for being one of the worst songs ever made ;) And No Geography has none of that. Every song sounds identical; there are no recognisable features, no standout performances. There aren't any truly awful songs, but definitely no good songs either. To top it off, they used the same TERRIBLE vocalist (sorry, but I really cannot stand her voice) in multiple songs, just to decrease the interest and variety further.

I agree with the general sentiment, but not nearly as strongly... No Geography does have a few moments for me that are really good, but I also really dislike AURORA. Eve of Destruction and Bango would have been awesome without her... The Universe Sent Me holds the not good crown of worst song by the group. I also am more irked that Meh about MAH. But I love the No Geography-Gotta Keep On-Gravity Drops trilogy, and Free Yourself and We've Got to Try have grown on me a bit. But more than anything, my dissapointment with it has strengthened my affinity for Born in the Echoes... it actually feels stronger and better to me now. Our opinions on Pocket Symphony seem to align pretty well though... I was initially underwhelmed by it, but it kept growing and growing on me, and seems to do so every time I listen to it. Even in disagreement, I still appreciate your reviewing style, in that you give context and examples behind your experience of the music. Definitely subscribed and look forward to checking more of your reviews.

I. Listend to the singles from New energy and I really like it I don't care for planet as it's pretty much a worse version of two thousand and seventeen and scientists the beat is like a slower more bad version of scientists the vibraphone melody is like exactly the same but really freaking high especially when he reveerbs it that is like ear rape for me the synth bridge is just scientists but worse and the mandolin is not nearly as good as two thousand and seventeen
