I know LDO sponsored your video… but the fact that they’re gearing up to make a kit for a Positron excites me so much. I’ve wanted to make one for a while now, and a pre-set kit with a bit of support if I needed it sounds phenomenal. I’m looking forward to seeing what they come out with.

Essentium also makes a dual-core 25% carbon fiber filament called HTN-CF25. We use it a lot at work, it's insanely strong and rigid and prints as easily as PLA as long as you keep it dry. It'll be interesting to see if the new Phaetus filament is as good.

Wouldn't an upside down Voron at high accelerations benefit from having the moving mass lower to the ground? It would potentially shake less and therefore allow for faster printing, right? I've been using a 3rd-generation Hero Me on my ender 3 for quite some time. The part cooling is absurdly better than the stock ender 3 cooler. If I care about surface finish, I can print up to ~60° overhangs. If I don't care or am willing to do some sanding, it can go all the way to 75°. Bridges work great, too.

@Fifsson_ Жыл бұрын
@@Sembazuru I would also add the Orbiter to that mix - I feel like they are trying to say "we can make your design into a product", which is a win both for them (profit, and they also don't have to invent on their own) and for the designer (who gets to have their design manufactured without much of the hassle that would come with doing that alone on a small scale). It's quite smart to be honest.

Maybe a bit off topic here. I had this crazy idea to increase print strength. The weakest part of a print is the layer adhesion. What if we design a solid part. Print the first layers as normal. The perimeters are printed as normal. Now for the fill we skips about half of the layer lines in a tooth like pattern. The next layer is printed at double layer height filling the open space and sticking one layer height above the previous one. The principle is repeated for the full print. Hypotheses: The layers stick to both the bottom layer and half of the sides of the previous layer and as a result the print will be stronger. Can you test this or is this already tested?

The Photoncast has my interest. At work, we use a large amount of one off insulators for high voltage and high current buss bars. Being able to coat them like this with a, insulating resin would greatly decrease our production time on prototypes. Also, the Co Extrusion filament has always caught my attention. The ability to add such a strong material to a print would take most prints from testing ideas and low strength cover plates to more structural parts, again for low volume prototype equipment. The only problem so far is that every retraction requires a filament cut to sheer the core material.

Regarding the chocolate printer. Now this is cool. I see that they recommend their chocolate to be used and that it is formed to meet the shape needed for the printer. What will be unique here is that the chocolate would be much easier to recycle vs. filament. However, it would have to be melted down and put into a mold that shapes the chocolate correctly so it fits into the unit. Now I am not a baker so I do not know how many times chocolate can be remelted. So, initially printing something that fails, then to melt it down and reshape the chocolate into the needed shape for the printer and then, again, printing a new shape using the printer might be an issue as I am not sure how much melting and remelting of chocolate can be done.
