Thanks for the video Dave, really enjoy these watch of the month club videos! Hopefully I'm not too late with my suggestions. Thought I'd throw in a few left field ones. - Newmark 6BB/Newmark HS - $350USD - HKED 1963 - $270USD - Dan Henry 1972 - $350USD - Gavox Roads/Gavox Squadron - $380USD - Orient Neo 70's WV0041TX - $250USD - Seiko SSB Series SSB031/SSB033 - $150USD - Seiko Recraft Chrono SSC667/Seiko SSC669 - $175-$200USD - Lorier Gemini - $499USD My value pick would be the Orient Neo 70's or the Seiko Recraft but Lorier Gemini would be it if money was no object.

I agree wholeheartedly with your premise - that affordable watches are worthy of enthusiast's attention. I do not have thousands of dollars to spend on a watch. And even if I did, I'm not a guy who would buy a watch which costs as much as a car.

I have the first three watches on your list... and five of them overall…I Love the Komasu(Dark red dial). I’ve got a lot of watches(too many). A year or two ago I would’ve always recommended the Seiko SKX (250 or less)...Or a Turtle for the under 400. Now I would say Kamasu for the Under 250 and Islander If you wanted to spend a little bit more at 300. Long island watch/Mark is the keeper of the SKX now. Thanks For a great review

Hey Dave! Can you beat a Seagull 1963 in the budget chronograph world? I doubt it! But if you can it would be a re-issue of the old Soviet Sturmanskie and Poljot watches... If Poljot24 have any under $500? Which I'm pretty sure they do - a maca-quartz homage of the Strela that was worn during Man's 1st Space Walk. Otherwise, in quartz, I reckon Bulova is king. You can always get the Lunar Pilot for under $400, but their new 'surfboard' dial Chronographs and another watch I only know as the 'Bulova Lobster' fit in price wise - easily - and are absolutely gorgeous! Cheers mate. I love having this series back!

For Chronographs under $500, I go for Yema Spacegraf Zero G Chrono, it has history the watch went to space, great design and watch heritage or under $300 go for Yema Rallygraf Panda, I got this watch 2 weeks ago and i’m loving it, cool vintage rally racing design, Yema is an established brand, better than any micro brands out there. Bulova Lunar pilot is a good one, it’s just a tad big 45mm watch.

@@marioaquilina248 Quartz quartz and oh yeah quartz. Must say I'm starting to get annoyed with this hobby. For dive-syle watches and desk divers, look no further than this video. But everything I see and hear about actual dive watches, worn by actual divers, Citizen eco-drive is king. Esp. the BN0150/1 and Eco-Zilla. There's another popular KZbinr who's constantly decrying Seiko quality and says that Citizen has them beat in every way. Recently saw his SOTC and it was 90% Seiko. The watch community is in a zombie trance "Must buy Seiko. Brains!" For a break from the insanity I look up Nick Shabazz and Random Rob now and then.

I think you would have to add the Traska Freediver to this list. At $375 I don’t know if there’s a better value for the price. The only problem is they are difficult to get your hands on. They recently restocked inventory and were sold out in three hours. This is an amazing watch! The hardened coating on the stainless steel makes it almost impossible to scratch.

That Nodus looks beautiful!! It the winner from the list for me. For chronographs I'd recommend the Brew Mastergraph, despite some comments recommending the Retrograph. For Chronographs, The Seiko Flightmaster SNA411. I like the Bulova Lunar Pilot, but the lug to lug is massive... I have no personal experience with any of the Dan Henry Chronos, but I'm a big fan of the design. I have owned a couple Seagull Auto Chronos, both 38mm with sapphire, but the QC was poor on both models; losing a minute a day or more. If you could find one that runs well, that would probably be my favorite, but I have personally been unsuccessful. Still, the Flightmaster is by far the best sub 500 option I have ever seen. As a sidenote, my favorite diver is that specific Samurai. You can beat the heck out of it, it looks great, has the nh35, and the rubber strap is surprizingly great. Love the content of your channel!

Hi and thanks for the videos. I would propose for the chronograph few French assembled ones for the diversity. The Yema Spacegraf zero-G and Rallygraf are 2 quartz chronograph with great history. And another one, a bit above the price tag but worth mentioning, the Baltic Bicompax 001 which is drived by the Seagul ST190 manual movement. Cheers

I love chronos, so I have several. The super cheap Pagani Design w/ the mecha. The Minuteman Parker uses the same movement. I also agree with the Seagull 1963, but I prefer the black dial which looks like one of the prototypes. And you really can’t go wrong with a Bulova. I like the Marinestar better than the moon model. And I just bought a Casio Edifice EFR-545 as a graduation gift. With the solar functions, it’s a no brainer for his generation. I hope any of this helps. Keep up the great videos!

Lorier Gemini for chronographs around 500. I was lucky to get one and it's surprisingly nice for the money. I don't know much about the reliability of seagull movements but I think it looks much better than the seagull chronographs. The movement sounds cool in my opinion. It's quite loud and sounds like a diesel engine slowly chugging along. Much different than anything else I've ever experienced.

Lorier is about to release the third version of their beautiful Neptune diver which just squeaks in at $499. As for chronographs, Lorier also makes the Gemini, which uses the Seagull ST19 mechanical movement and can be had for under $500. At under $250 there's of course the Seagull 1963 and the Seiko SNA411 "Flightmaster" which are pretty popular. There's literally hundreds of quartz chronographs from Seiko in the SSB (mecaquartz) and SSC (solar) series. The SSB033, SSC009, and SSC667 I think are particularly attractive. There's also tons of micro brands using Seiko mecaquartz movements like Undone and Dan Henry.

For next month’s Chronographs under $500. Short answer: Bulova Lunar Pilot Long Answer: Analog chronographs only; too many digital ones to consider. 1/5 second precision minimum. 1 second and 1/2 second (Bulova Curv) precision chronographs are more dress watch than flexible chronograph. For mechanical chronographs, I found a NOS Bulova Accu-Swiss Tellaro automatic chronograph (65C116) for under $400, but those are probably all gone. The Seagull chronograph with exhibition caseback looks interesting. For quartz chronographs, my first pick is the Bulova Lunar Pilot. For less money is the Bulova 98B298, which uses the Lunar Pilot 262 kHz movement. The very tasteful Bulova Precisionist 96B260 is still available, but is no longer shown in the US catalog. Most of the other Precisionists are just too large and overstyled. The Citizen World Chronograph AT Blue Angels is less than $400. It is my favorite Citizen chronograph. After I bought it, I gave away my Seiko chronograph. I recently purchased two different color versions of the Glycine Combat Sub Quartz Chronograph (GL100x), which have been selling for under $200. Casio has the 5174 analog chronograph module, which they place in their JDM Lineage LIW-M610 watches (all SS or titanium construction) starting below $200. Casio uses the same module in their less expensive JDM WVQ-M410 watches. This module replicates most of the functions of Casio digital watches (World Time, stopwatch, countdown timer, alarm) in a totally analog manner with Tough Solar and Multi-Band 6.

Thanks for the great video. I just ordered a Seiko flighty on eBay and that’s my first chronograph. Can’t wait for it to get here. My AQUATICO "SEA STAR 300 BLACK GOLD CERAMIC BEZEL" is a masterpiece really...probably the best of the lot (other SEA STAR for sale on the AQUATICO web site). Black gold color scheme works perfectly; the sapphire crystal, the ceramic bezel and the beautifully finished bracelet along with the carefully adjusted automatic movement NH35 (on my watch give or take 1 sec/day or less for the last 3 weeks) give me the feeling of owning a really well-built timepiece...not a perfect watch but certainly a masterpiece at that price ($299)...well done AQUATICO !!! Best chrono for under 400 has to be the seagul 1963. You can get it for under 200 if you buy it directly from aliexpress and if you guy from a retailer like Long Island watches you get it for around 350. Good history with its Venus movement and the bid war the company had between the Russians and Chinese when mao eventually won out and used it for his aviation squad.

Chronograph under $500: Tissot T-Race or V8. Tissot is underrated imo even though its pretty pricey for a quartz watch.

Your video showed up in my feed, glad it did, great video. I'm looking forward to the "best chronograph under $500" video. My vote is the Seiko SSC701 or one of the other color variants. 200m, screw down buttons, solar so no worries killing the battery life using the chrono, etc. You have a new subscriber!

Oh yeah! The curve is fantastic! As is the Lobster and the new re-issued 'surfboard' dials! And the 1963 is a no brained! The best budget Chrono full stop and one of my favourite watches.

Another good chronograph is the Seiko SSB033 Meca-Quartz, it looks quite similar to a Daytona

Tommy Sands I think your Glycine is magnetized, you need to demagnetized it. It’s easy and cheap to demagnetize.

Great choices man! Got the exact same Padi Samurai and put it on a CrafterBlue strap; pricey but worth it. CombatSub Goldeneye as well (on black lizard); pricey full stop ;-) Gotta check out that Nodus though, beautiful! For your chronos next month: Bulova Lunar Pilot, Casio Edifice panda dial and Poljot Blue Angels.
