Explanation to first one (0:05): The yolk is heavier than the rest of the egg, by squeezing the bottle then slowly re-expanding it you drop the pressure inside the bottle, therefore the outside air with more pressure forces itself and the yolk inside. Second one (0:58): Simple, he is blowing the egg out of the shell. Third one (1:58): The vinegar is acidic so certain things will dissolve in it, in this case the shell is dissolved leaving the rest of the egg left. Fourth (2:46): When the paper burned the pressure dropped in the bottle, like I explained in the first one, the egg is "sucked" in. Fifth (3:50): Alcohol breaks down the structure of the egg. Sixth (4:36): The wight of you and your foot is evenly distributed between all the eggs, until two were broken causing too much weigh for the structure of the rest. Seventh (5:44): He explained it himself, the liquid in the egg moves about causing the uneven weight distribution, so the center of mass is constantly moving within the egg to slow it down. Eight (6:28): Things will float if they displace a mass of water greater then its mass, it will sink if it displaces a mass of water less than its own mass. The salt creates denser water therefore more mass to be displaced. The third egg floated because it is neutrally buoyant, so the egg displaced the SAME mass of water as its own mass, this is what scuba divers (such as myself) and submarines need to do to stay under but not hit the sea bed. Also why it is easier to float on the sea. Nine (8:15): You just need to balance the egg, so its resting on its center of mass. Ten (8:50): You boiled the egg in the most unconventional way possible. Still pretty cool though. Hope this answers anyone questions.

8:00 "Why is this egg floating in the middle. Tell me how does it work scientifically." Well, to understand why the egg floats in the middle of the third glass, you need to understand the science behind the other glasses. _(in laymen's terms)_ *First Glass* Because an egg has a higher density (~1.033 g/ml) than water (1g/ml), it sinks. *Second Glass* Because an egg's density is close to that of water's, it only takes a minor adjustment of the water's density to reverse the roles of who's the least dense. Salt does this to water, so adding a couple spoon fulls of salt to water raises the density of the water. Since the density of water is now higher, the egg floats. *Third Glass* Keeping in mind the two previous glasses, we can now understand the science behind the third glass.. almost. The idea behind density is related to the denseness (loose or tight) in the packing of particles; i.e. mass and volume. The tighter packed (denser) salty water repels the looser packed (less dense) tap water. So when you put the egg in the denser salt water, the egg floats. When you pour the less dense tap water on top, it pushes the egg down. Water on top pushing down and water on bottom pushing up causes the egg to float in the middle all the while the different waters repel each other. Hope that helped! *TIDBIT* This is also the science behind those cool rainbow shots (in a row) or multicolored drinks that just don't seem to mix and make one (probably gross looking) color. The different layers of the drink are made up of different densities so they don't mix.
@tortellini37409 жыл бұрын
If you're too lazy to read this... 1 The egg is heavier that the water so the egg sinks 2 The salt makes the water heavier than the egg so the egg floats 3 The salty water sinks to the bottom, the egg goes in the middle, and the regular water is at the top Hopefuly you learned something KZbin

The egg stays in the middle because the bottom layer of water has a higher density than the top layer. This is because the salt in the bottom layer doesn't immediately evenly distribute in the water so there is more salt in the bottom than the top. Over time diffusion will cause the salt to even out and the egg will float to the top.
@MCBeast200010 жыл бұрын
Wrong. That worked because if u take a good kinda egg it will float but if its like bad stinky it will drop down, Try it.
@VKingMD10 жыл бұрын
MCBeast2000 You're a bit confused. If there were no salt in the water a rotten egg would float and a normal egg sink. Adding salt to the water would cause both to float.

The egg stays in the middle because when you added water the density becomes lower, making the egg slightly denser but not too dense.
@MaeriberiiUsami10 жыл бұрын
He asked. -.-
@tzimmermann10 жыл бұрын
Actually this is because you have a density gradient in the glass. When you slowly add water to a salt water glass, it doesn't mix instantly with the heavier salt water and kinda stays on top of it as it's less dense. The egg is denser than pure water on top and less dense than salt water below, thus it will be at equilibrium in the middle.

I think the egg floats because when it was half full, salt particles are already supporting it, but when you add more water, the other salt particles rise and trap it in the middle
@FelipeBigHead10 жыл бұрын
um i dont think so.-. i may be wrong if im not wrong if u add a lot of salt the density of the water+salt would like increase to like 3g/cm3 and the egg would be like only 2.5g/cm3 so yea .-. im learning about density now in school lol

because you made salt water...very thick salt water which was dense enough to hold the water on top without mixing much at all. that explains why
@ikaro34211 жыл бұрын
In other words, the water already capped it's max solvent capacity and so the water on top is less salty then the one under. Yet, after time, the salt will distrubute itself to get to equilibria. Also, taking on count pressure, it can either stay there or float more, depending on how dense is the final salty water.

@MGShadow198910 жыл бұрын
The reason the egg floats in the middle is because of displacement. The same experiment can be done using any object and any liquid along with very salty water. Veritasium done it using a golf ball and fairy liquid, similar result, the gold ball floated perfectly in the middle.

Oh with those glasses it's easy. First you create dense liquid with salt, which is heavier than regular water. As the water is poured into the salty water, they don't mix with each other and regular water stays on top. If you have an egg, or some other thing that sinks in regular water, but floats on salty water, then it's easy to do this trick - it will still float in the middle of this "two storey" liquid.
@Fargus99011 жыл бұрын
Uhhh except salty water will absolutely mix with regular water, everytime, all the time.

Konstantinos Kagiopoulos dat dont make sense bro you mean the salt won't disolve in the water. but it will if there's more water added
@Fargus99011 жыл бұрын
All solutions have a saturation point- when you can't dissolve any more salt into the water because all the spaces between the water molecules are full. Adding more water = everything mixes = more spaces between water molecules for more salt to dissolve. You're all wrong
@leonardo0x111 жыл бұрын
***** so you can disolve 38g of salt in 100ml water? doesn't that mean you can disolve 72g of salt in 200ml? cuz that that was my point... just call me stupid if i'm wrong i'm totally ignorent if it comes to chemistry lol

The egg floated in the center because you poured water on top of the salt water. Like you said the egg sinks in water but floats in salt water. Since you didn't mix it you had two different densities.

He mixed..... Btw the egg float in the middle is because the egg and the salt water(third glass) have the same density :P
