The most interesting fact to me is that many nintendo and sega games did came out on the sharp x,it will almost make you wonder how on earth the nes did sold over 61 million units.

I didn't even see this poll but my eyes lit up at this video dropping. You covered my feelings exactly in that opening. I watched some "10 things you never knew about X" video yesterday and I doubt there's anyone alive who learned anything new from it. I'm hungering for the things I missed now.

Quite an admirable in-depth research to learn about here! Sharp X is one of those systems I have always been intrigued about. I didn't know that it was the base system for the game designers of the more famous 8-bit consoles, namely Famicom/NES or the Master System! Surprised to learn about also that it was a product of the TV division of Sharp and, most specially, why it never came to Latin America (where I am) and, instead, gave room to the Hotbit MSX computer. Great episode indeed for this beautiful system (both inside and outside)!

Fascinating. A very detailed exploration on both the system's different iterations and the market it existed in at the time.

Looks fantastic and I like that audio cassette deck style for front panel loading of the program cassettes seen at 3:56.

Thanks for the great video. Interestingly Sharp needed a custom Z80 to get a 64K I/O space. They would go on to make a whole variety of Z80ish custom CPUs, notably the one used in the Gameboy chip.

Interesting video, shows that there were various systems around with different OS. Today there is basically; Windows, Apples iOS and Linux and its derivatives. Must say that the designs of computers was funkier then.

Aaaanddd then Sharp said to its competition...."We're done messing around" after releasing the X68000. You all lose to my crazy powerful machine. Hey Capcom, why don't you make games with our computers? ;)

I heard the Sharp X6800 had a lot of influence on the design of the Sony PS2. The best-selling Sony game console ever. And a lot of those programmers learned how to make games on the X6800 that were making games for the PS2.

Nice not a lot of people know about this system. i think the 8 bit computers from japan get overlooked compared to the 16 bit systems like x68000 and fm towns. i noticed retro gaming content is not as popular in japan compared to Europe. when i search sharp x1 i get videos that are neither in English or Japanese. usually some eastern European or south American stuff. you should also make one about the fm7 and sharp mz series .

Is there any Western museum that has a good collection of these Sharp PCs? If not, some museum should make a serious effort to accumulate one because the external appearance of ALL of these machines look very interesting unlike nearly all of the contemporary machines outside Japan. They'd stand out from other museums which contain just the Western stuff.

You made a mistake in the video, this Epcom belonged to a Sharp company in Brazil that was not the same as the japanese company, it was a Brazilian company that had just obtained the license to use the Sharp brand in Brazil, it belonged to a brazilian businessman

Then the information online is wrong "The Hotbit HB-8000 is an MSX home computer developed and sold by the Brazilian subsidiary of Sharp Corporation through its Epcom home computer division in mid-1980s."

Ah. I miss the days when there was a different platform for every personality and new ones launched every year to lust over. I have a hard time summoning enthusiasm for much that Google, Linux or Apple do. It all gets the job done in roughly similar ways with incremental improvements... I want to be baffled for a good hour when I sit down in front of a friend's computer again!

The gameplay is background, this video isn't about games and doing that would massively distract from what I am talking about. I'm sure I'll upload a separate Sharp X1 gameplay video at some point.

Do me a favor. I often binge your videos at night but when u put those graphics up in between each segment the audio is so high it peaks out and wakes me lol, you should turn the level down a smidge

Yep - just listening to the audio once makes it obvious it needs lowering versus all of the other sounds. Nearly quit watching as it was hurting my ears.

I actually adjusted it down twice before I finalised the video and thought it sounded fine, but I'll take that feedback on board. Interestingly in Vegas, the program I use to create my videos, it shows the speaking channel being 2 settings higher than the channel that clip is played on.

i really love your videos but your talking is mixed SO MUCH QUIETER than the video and game sounds that the videos are almost impossible to listen to comfortably because the parts where you arent talking are DEAFENINGLY loud in comparison. if u fix this i will definitely subscribe on patreon but like... its too much for me
@TheLairdsLair
@TheLairdsLair Жыл бұрын
Hmmm, I'm not hearing what you're hearing and I can tell you that I don't change the volume between when I speak and when I don't speak, so the sounds should not get louder at all. Thanks for your feedback anyway, I appreciate it.

@@TheLairdsLair yes, the problem is that u dont change the volume. u should use waveform view of the video editor ur using to see the voume levels and make them a bit more even. either make ur voice louder or the non-speaking parts quieter using the vide editors compressor or amplification, idk, i havent listened on headhones so maybe it is less prominent with headphones on. just saying not to be a dick, but because i think the channel has a lotof potential and is good, but im not usually even very picky, so if it bothers me it probably bothers other potential viewers more, so u could get more subscribers and viewers i bet, if the volume levels in the video were mixed a bit less abrasively
@TheLairdsLair
@TheLairdsLair Жыл бұрын
That's exactly what I do, use the waveform view and the master volume editors to level things out. I also ALWAYS make my voice a lot louder during editing. Like I say, thanks for the feedback but not really sure what your hearing, because to me the game sounds are really quiet, or what I can do to "fix it" so it sounds right to you.
