Thanks Nabz! #RoadTo1K 💃🏾 Yeah, we don't realise how much we are protected from back home. I'm glad I got to see all that I've seen though (both the good and the bad), I'm a lot more AWARE now. Much of the world has a very twisted, corrupted, and false view of Africa. We need to tell our own stories more ❤️

Yes life in South Europe has more quality, then life in North Europe here it is literally work, home gepeat. My husband and I lived in Portugal for 18 months and he loved it because for him it was almost like he was back in Greece.

Interesting! I love the way the Greek approach life. It's similar to the Ugandan culture. Physical and mental health is just as important as work...if not more.

Hi Fay, 👋 , just to clarify. “One has to work twice as hard to enjoy the benefits as compared to one back home”. This comes down to the basics like housing & transportation. With, let’s €1000 for an apartment, the size and location will be a hustle as compared to spending that much in Africa, especially in East Africa where things are abit not overly pricey: with that amount, one would be living on prime land back in Kampala. Getting a license & a car in France or Germany as an African has its own chapters. And then you have the “work, home & repeat”. Unlike UG where you know everyone is pretty much available after 5:30pm, time, comes when you won’t meet your friends in over 6months yet you live in the same state. True about always to prove yourself twice in a workplace for your value to be appreciated: and even when it is appreciated, then all the work is pushed to you. ( This could be a biased assumption 😂, but I am glad to learn that I’m Greece 🇬🇷, things are different).

Thank you! 😊 It's not difficult to find accommodation. Just search early and make sure you have a contract. Search for "Erasmus accommodation" and you will find several options. I hope this helps.

funny what she calls black tax - I clicked hoping to see if like in Canada/US for various reasons, things in black neighborhoods cost more. 2. working twice as hard is real - take for instance professional soccer players - Africans have to be several folds as good as local talents to make the team and stay in it - same goes for the business world as I can attest from personal experience or even work in general.
@Khukyenda4 жыл бұрын
"Black tax" is an informal term/slang. True observations.

The first assumption is so not true... Social media n Ugandan news is what connects us to home really. People back home find it shocking to know that ure actually aware of what's going on in the country better than they do. 😁 little do they know that its the magic that keeps us connected to our motherland.
@Khukyenda4 жыл бұрын
I couldn't agree more! I follow Ugandan news more than any other news, I'm still on my WhatsApp groups, and I probably talk to some of my family members more often than I did when I was back home 😅❤️
