You are so right. Most documentaries are dry, boring, and repetitive. They just tell me things that I have read or heard a hundred times already. JMG videos actually teach me things. They aren't just educational, they're also imaginative. They really get my mind going and reawaken that sense of wonder I had as a little girl. Between JMG and the comment section of his videos, I often end up getting turned on to other channels or authors I might have never heard of otherwise.

Video idea for JMG - 10 reasons why life won the lottery: the fine tuning problem. Things that if they weren’t just so, we/life wouldn’t exist; Nuclear strong/weak, gravity, moon size/tides, asteroid, extinction, cosmic events, etc, etc. JMG eluded to some of these in the “10 Spooky..” episode. Keep it up JMG, my fave KZbin channel. Word.

He'll pursue it when he's ready, or he won't, for any reason, like if he finds that he doesn't need a career in the field to satisfy his hunger for learning and discovery. We all need room to grow, and explore our own paths. So I hope you find hope, meaning, and fulfillment throughout _whatever path_ becomes yours in life, saltycierra.

Re: Simulated universes requiring “more computing power than the laws of the universe allow” - that may certainly be true for *this* universe. But if ours is an engineered universe with an engineered reality, why would that impossible computing power not be merely one parameter set forth by the external/creator universe? And that external universe is one that we can never map from within; we can’t even prove the internal consistencies of our own (Godel’s incompleteness theorem and whatnot). Lab Universe creates this reality, but applies controls such that we (the created guinea pig universe) cannot likewise create our own.

Hello futurist and science fiction author John Michael Godier, Thank you for the video. A couple of others techno signatures that are comparatively more near term are high powered maser or laser highways, for interplanetary travel within the system and detection of short half life elements, from nuclear salt water rockets , just before we work out fusion drives (which is always 20 years away , I promise :) Also , I'm not sure where the idea that you need a powerful CPU to simulate a universe comes from? Even our own can be simulated by anything we have today. Sure, one unit of planck time might take a million years of computation , however the simulated universe isn't going to know that. The only thing you need is time. Just ask deep thought.

Like the Dyson Sphere, I don’t think it is meant to be a solid structure, but a swarm of satellites. Think quadrillions of highly reflective solar sails changing their angle to form a giant spherical fresnel lens. The star is actually tugged along by the accumulated gravitational pull of all these satellites. To change direction, you just change the location in the sky they are all bouncing the light to.

Another reason the Habitat Ring would not be wise because of Asteroids and Comets unless you have something that would repel it. Maybe Anti-Gravitational or something revolving around it every certain distance of the Habitat Ring with a gravitational pull to repel the comet or asteroid away from the Habitat Ring and the Habitat Ring would need a gravitational pull that will keep them in place. We have the moon. Also we wouldn't have night and day. We could have one or the other and it would have to rotate around the star to keep it in place.
