Well, for once, YT recommendations lead me to a great place. This was a very interesting video, I've played Troubleshooter and Wildermyth before, and agree that they are exceptionally interesting games. I think this may also be the push I needed to finally give Griftlands a shot. And the Teenage Exocolonist looks like something right up my alley and I literally never heard of it until now. On my end, I would say the games that didn't get nearly the attention they deserved are: Erannorth Chronicles - which is a deckbuilder with an amazingly deep character creation, where everything gives you either another deck pool or perks. For example, you can be a Vampire (which is a deck on its own) Blood Mage (which is another deck), with additional access to... idk... Divine Magic spells... and how you combine those is entirely up to you. Wanna have a Faye Gladiator? A Dwarf Noble? A Werewolf Witch? Do what you want. Not the best looking game, but very satisfying to play. And the other one I'd mention is probably Gordian Quest. Also a deckbuilder, with a tactical combat, where every character you pick can be 3 different versions of their class (for example an archer can be your classic archer, or focus on traps, or focus on turrets). There's also a story and some RPG elements, and imo it looks gorgeous. So if you haven't tried these, they may be up your alley =)

Oh my God I'm so happy you've mentioned "I was a Teenage Exocolonist". I love this title so much for what it does, and there's pretty much no hype around it at all, no one talks about it. Which is a shame. More people deserve to experience it, and the devs definitely deserve all the sales. 💝

This video has been awesome to find more prospects for the winter sale, but I have to say the main reason I love this video is the Maj'Eyal callout! I've been in love with ToME for a very long time, and I don't think it gets enough love. ETA: Another point for Maj'Eyal is that it actually has Steam Workshop support! I think a lot of the mods there are also on ToME's website, but the mod-manager style ease of use makes it worth mentioning!

I have never gotten much out of '10 steam sale' lists, even from the greats like TotalBiscuit but somehow you've managed to make me listen intently the whole way through, so well done. I recommend Potionomics. Excellent 'comfy' game that's not comfy because it is appropriately challenging. Alchemy potion making, deckbuilder haggling, romance/friendship dating sim elements with fellow artisans and heroes gives you new cards/haggling techniques. Lovely animation work and extremely well-crafted game pace.

I think you might enjoy Invisible, Inc. It's in the style of XCOM (turn based, tactical tile maps), but instead of having fire fights, you're a team of espionage specialists performing various heists. Violence is typically a last resort, as missing guards will increase the alarm level in the stage, making things much harder for you. The story is short and barebones; it's a roguelike after all, but the game is a blast.

If you like that genre, give the early access title cyberknights : Flashpoints a look. It has some more shooting involved in some of the stages (sneaking is usually prefferable but at least for me it seemed impossible to finish all with only sneaking) but it has a similar idea in a cyberpunk setting with you leading a team (you create a maincharacter like in some rpg and then select a starting team out of a pool of characters) into several heists
@TheCookieDoeDeer

Not quite 100% the same genre but if you want a feel of I was a teenage exocolonist, but in a more visual novel sense which it already kinda is, may I recommend "our life beginning and always" it's free, and you grow up with this boy cove and as you grow up your life choices shape both of you. Solasta, you convinced me to try. Having bought it, ok on discount, it was very dissappointing that the first page of character creation/generation offered a great choice but most of the characters were only available via DLCs. That felt wrong. Either let me choose anything or simply don't present it to me. So far I am through the tutorial sections, I have the crown, and I expect to have a TPK at any moment. If/when I do, I doubt that there will be enough to convince me to try again. None of the others really speak to me. But thanks for the suggestions. Have a great holiday season.

Cephalopocalypse: Please read this. I've been following you for some time now and really enjoy your content. I'm a reasonably intelligent person and it takes me forever to understand the mechanics of a game. I've been playing BG3 for going on 2K hours and STILL feel like I don't understand what I'm doing. So the reason I want you to read this is because I would love for you to do a video about how you figure out all the inner workings of a game. When I watch your Brotato vids, they feel a lot like you were part of the Development team. I mean you know stuff that I'm like, "How could he possibly know that?!?" And honestly, I'm looking for anything that doesn't require me to dedicate my life to following some online forum.
