I am so glad that you gave the #1 spot to Mazatlan. I have been to Mexico City and Cancun but Mazatlan is my destination of choice and I can say that it is my favorite place in the world. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ MAZATLAN!!!

I very much liked Mazatlán, although when I went for the first time in February 2020 (just before the COVID lockdowns), they were redoing all the roads (especially the one along the malecón), which made traveling from the zona dorada to centro historico a long trek. The beach is soo much better than PV, and the seafood among the best that I have eaten anywhere.

I lived both and definitely it depends on exchange rates. Colombian peso is very inestable, at current exchange rates Colombia is cheaper.

I agree with CDMX, Oaxaca de Juarez and Mazatlán for all the reasons you mentioned. Some of my favorite smaller cities are Guanajuato, Morelia (both university towns with plenty of cultural offerings), San Cristobal de las Casas. I guess much of it depends on whether one is more of a beach or mountain person. Mexico has such a plethora of unique well and lesser-known places that anyone's Top 10 can be different.

Another good video. I have been to half those top ten cities. My gf likes mexico City, but she thinks the food in Veracruz and Oaxaca are better. We were told by many in Mexico city that Veracruz had great food. Also, the State of Veracruz has awesome beaches. (except Puerto Veracruz). Xalapa is a beautiful city near many waterfalls.

Rather glaring that you bypassed the "Twice" , #1 Highest rated city in the world .by the Conde Nast publications ... San Miguel de Allende . It's exquisite . The negative about Mazatlan is that it is super noisy all along the boardwalk due to the traffic. Prices have gone up quite a bit in 3 yrs. I could take a pulmonia for $100 pesos from the south end all the way to the north end of the beaches. But it beats the prices & scams going on in Tulum .

My family is from Mazatlan and I live in California. Over the years flights, Airbnb and hotels have gone up. They been trying to make it like the new Cancun / Puerto Vallarta. The city keeps expanding along the coast line to the north of Mazatlan (Cerritos)

Nice Jordan! Cool video. Just a reminder Mexico was establish in 1521. So, unless you are talking about pre-Colombian ruins they don’t have the oldest of anything in Latin America. That would be the Caribbean. So, it’s impossible that Oaxaca City was established in the 1400’s heck there weren’t any Spaniards around just the Aztecs and Mayas taking advantage of lesser tribes. Get it right! And get out there. It’s summer time!

Seems you’re right, the official founding date is 1532. I remember reading something about the late 1400s. Wikipedia says this: In 1486 the Aztecs established a fort on the hill of Huaxyácac (now called El Fortín), overlooking the present city of Oaxaca. This was the major Aztec military base charged with the enforcement of tribute collection and control of trade routes.

How would a wheelchair user be able to handle Mazatlan?

In the Golden Zone and along the Malecon you will be fine. The Old City would be a challenge as many of the curbs vary in height from 4 inches to a foot tall. I am not kidding I almost did a face plant the first time I walked through the Old City because the curb heights are treacherous.

The beach in Mazatlan is not that great, I prefer La Paz Baja Ca over Mazatlan.

With the exception of Mexico City and Oaxaca, all of these are on the water, all are tourist destinations, mostly resorts and none even resemble authentic Mexico at all, its culture, people and food. I am not saying these places aren’t beautiful, they are, but they will teach you almost nothing about the country. The heart and soul of Mexico are the small towns and cities in the central mountainous regions, art, history, architecture etc. and due to videos like this you can travel for weeks without seeing another foreigner, spend much, much less and actually see Mexico. BTW it is not CANcun as in cat, a sound that does not even exist in the Spanish language, it is Caancoon. Have some respect.
