10 BANDS I HATE DISLIKE or CAN'T STAND

Hating a band is a bit of an unintentional compliment. Good bands are either liked or disliked. Mediocre music is boring and just plain bad music can actually be funny, but if you have strong negative feelings to a band then it means they at least came up with something distinctive even if it's not to your taste. Mediocrity can't be "hated", mediocrity means having no distinguishing features.

I love the Raspberries! And I kinda like some Sparks stuff too. But, literally every single other band I agree with you on! ESPECIALLY Journey! Holy shit, I hate Don’t Stop Believin’, and I hate Open Arms even more! 😵😵‍💫

A lot of bands I don''t care for overall but I"ll love one or two of their albums, Kiss' first album, Aerosmith Rocks and Get Your Wings...

Pre-Tommy Shaw Styx is not bad. Jello Biafra told me that. He's not wrong. Solid list! Kiss was meant exactly for my age. Remember how they visited elementary schools? I was surrounded by the Kiss Army. I never enlisted. A former member of the KA once pointed out that if you pay attention, you'll notice Kiss lyrics are primarily about forcing themselves on women. Kinda true... "It's Cold Gin time again... you know I always win!" I was 9 when that came out. People still get butt hurt when I mention that I was never on board. Hey, I watched "Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park"! When a 12-year-old thinks you're dumb... But it seems I was an outlier among my cohort of rock fans. You gave me permission to talk about it publicly! :)) PS I was tortured by baby sitters constantly playing "Beth".

I have never knowingly listened to a Styx or Journey song, I'm sure I've heard their stuff but I wouldn't even know it if I did. I also tried to see what all the Sparks fuss was about and they did nothing for me at all, I don't get it. I share the same feelings about every band you mentioned

I get they're not everybody's cup of tea, but Sparks is fantastic. The other bands mentioned I'm mostly with you on, but Sparks is incredible.

I live in the upper Midwest…so airing strong opinions is considered-well kind of unbecoming…I never liked Styx, but then my football team adopted “renegade” so I had to cave there. I hated Journey too, but some of the songs have grown on me over time. I actually do like bonjovi despite jbv’s vocal range of two notes. Personally Sammy Hagar bugs me-but he’s obviously got deep connections to the industry and isn’t going to go away. I don’t like Def Leoppard either-bubblegum metal! But the moment I say it there’s someone looking at me with pity and going “? I love that band”

One band I absolutely loathe is Rings Of Saturn I dont get how that stuff is passed on as Metal when its just fake overprocessed noise that sounds like a slot machine with Death Metal vocals

There are a lot of insipid, annoying, overrated bands to waste time on. Bon Jovi, usually Aerosmith, Poison, Guns&Roses, Motley Crew, Radiohead (later stuff got better), but Journey is decent. Sparks is a hard listen, but the movie Rollercoaster showcased a couple of their very best songs. I like only 3 songs by Queen.

We're probably around the same age. Never heard of Sparks. Aerosmith I like. If Kiss would have never done the face painting and uniform nonsense, I may have given them a chance. I liked Journey before they hired the high-pitched singer that ruined them. REO started out okay, but then became just another uninteresting, rock ballad band. Styx to me wanted to be like Kansas, but there was only one Kansas.

Bands I hate....Grateful Dead, Widespread Panic, Phish, Eagles, Zappa,Dave Mathews Band, Leftover Salmon,.....Pretty much any band I'm sure you love.

Well, I can't disagree with any of that -- if theres something I think that unites this group , its something to do with being 'for real', - none of them kind of really are 'for real' imho - I was terrified you were going to say Depeche Mode, or Lynyrd Skynyrd, or Joy Division, and Id have had to argue with you .

@@oldguysmusicstuff2896 I got into Skynyrd after watching the 2015 documentary Gone with he Wind, and its only the Ronnie van Zant iteration of the band I like , seems a version of the band still goes , but thats not the real thing ... as for Depeche Mode being ok ....oh, thats torn it ! ... they are way more than that , but I can understand how outside of fans a 'best of' would suffice - and with Depeche Mode , its the whole sound-look-feeling of the band , and Anton Corbijns input also, to make the whole thing really hit home - like 'Behind the Wheel' is a pretty ace song anyhow, but add the sexy video with that Italian actress , the moody black and white photography ...it becomes a total work of quasi erotic/musical art - imho !

I won’t go on about bands I don’t care for. List is too long. But I will say about album covers. Fleetwood Mac has some of the worst album covers. One is so disturbing it reminds me of child molestation. As an artist and a graphic designer. I hate terrible covers. Fleetwood Mac are some of the worst. There’s only 2 I can look at. I will buy a cd Or album because of a great cover. Cover art never gets the credit they deserve. Big name bands had some of the worst covers. But I do love FM music.
