I have rosacea with large lumps. I stopped all sugar exactly one month ago and I honestly did it because of high blood sugar levels and high cholesterol levels and to see if diet would have make a difference. I have been SO SURPRISED to see the change in my face! I would NEVER have guessed this!

Hi Mary, I have Rosacea too and in addition to avoiding sugar, eating low histamine and low carb and taking supplements (especially antioxidants, but I did an elaborate blood test to find out which supplements to take) has transformed my skin. I also use Ultrasicc as face cream. Ultrasicc is super inexpensive, you can get it in every pharmacy for a few dollars and it is the base for any lotion that a pharmacy mixes. So you can use the base cream without any additional ingredients. My skin now looks completely normal again, no one would ever guess I have Rosacea.

Oh my goodness I was thinking the same thing. I don’t have rosacea, but cutting out sugar and processed foods changed my skin. No blemishes and it’s glowing. And I eat a LOT of animal fat. Like you, my journey started because of high sugar levels. No meds and my best skin ever!

Night cream usually has additional moisturizers. Eye cream often has retinol and/ or hyaluronic acid or they have them in higher amounts than a regular facial moisturizer. I agree that a lot of this stuff is really overkill. Best advice is read the ingredients, you may indeed find your buying the same thing with a different label.

About face creams: night creams often contain retinol, which is incompatible with exposure to the sun, this is why they are applied at night. They are also richer and make skin look oily and makeup not adhere as well. Day creams often contain sunscreen, which should not be applied when there is no sun as the active ingredient can be rough on the skin and you do not want too much of it when not needed. I agree on the aggressive toner, not needed but some toners just add skin nutrients. I use Paulas Choice Enriched Calming Toner and it adds another level of moisture.

My favourite is Avene as it really does have specific ingredients that my skin loves. I've tried to simplify my skincare routine-skipped on eye creams in the last year only b/c I noticed they were causing milia by my eyes. Toner is must for me have pretty dry skin but also get acne often (in my fourties now)-would avoid ones with alcohol. Also have separate body/face cream otherwise if I use the body ones they will break me out. But I need more moisturizing one on my body. Good ideas for less products though.

I use baby shampoo for my eye makeup I use baking soda to exfoliate my face, neck in the shower. This cleaned up blackheads on my nose and keep my fine lines- fine and not deep. Seriously I look older when I forget to use it. Kids use it only in the t-zone except my son uses is where he shaves too and it helps him have a cleaner shave with less breakouts. We also use Trim Healthy Mama for my all over skin location. They have one that is like a daily sunblock too. (Florida sun days we use a mineral zinc.) My kids use the same. When I splurge I use the THM facecleaner & baking soda. That cleaner lastest me FOREVER!!

Agree on absolutely EVERYTHING said (especially the eye primer - so necessary for me for shadow too!) but the sunscreens.... Sticks are mid. You just don't get the coverage. I get it, little kids, it's much easier to apply, but it isn't nearly as effective and you must reapply it a lot more often to have it work in a similar fashion. It seems more inconvenient but in the long run....worth it, my girl. They'll thank you for it later.

Using the same products on the face and body is great if it works for you, but there are plenty of us who have to be more careful about what we can use on our face. For some of us, any formula which is too heavy on the oils, is too occlusive or has too many silicones etc. can cause problems for the face but be fine for the body.

So agree. 👍❤️ Toners, lip scrubs, primers except eye primer. Unnecessary! I use CeraVe PM night and day- the CeraVe tub cream isn’t enough moisture for my extra dry facial skin. It does my neck, eyes and face. It has niacin and several other good ingredients found in more expensive skin care brands and it is wonderful. Zero fragrance- another plus. Retinoids are amazing along with niacin (in the CeraVe PM) and The Ordinary makes a Retinaldehyde serum that is nice on dry skin and affordable. Serious help for my 68 year old wrinkles. If you’re on a good retinoid most people don’t need an exfoliating product but if you do The Ordinary has a good glycolic acid at a great price. I use it on my scalp about once a week to combat dryness and itchy flaky scalp- after washing hair as a leave in. Just a few drops. For dry skin cleanser all over, face, body & even hair in a pinch CeraVe oil cleanser is amazing. Takes makeup off beautifully, doesn’t strip skin and isn’t slippery in the shower. Makeup tips- Lipstick is a great cream blush, tap in with your fingers to blend. Matches lips, & if it needs a touch up later, it’s in the purse. Concealer can conceal plus a good one can be blended into your moisturizer as a light skin tint if you use one that matches your skin. With eye primer and a little powder it can work all day as skin tone eyeshadow A dusting of powder bronzer in the eye crease adds a little warmth and definition. B

I agree with you with 2 exceptions: Eye cream I use a separate eye cream in the night with encapsulated retinol designed for eye area. For day time I use an eye cream very hydrating but not occlusive because I have very dry skin under eye. The rest of my face is normal with a bit oily forehead and very reactive and acne prone. My face cream is very light with ingredients that don’t cause me breakouts. So if you don’t need to treat anything (dark circles, puffiness, wrinkles etc.) and your skin type is the same all over your face probably you don’t need an eye cream with the mention that the face cream for (very) dry skin can be good for face but can cause millia under eyes. Body cream People with very sensitive, reactive and acne prone skin can’t use the body cream for face and under eyes. Also if you want a higher concentration of beneficial ingredients for your specific needs you will not find them in a body cream. Again if you just need some hydration, have nothing to fix and your skin (face area) is very resilient to any ingredients a body cream for everything can save some money and space in your cabinet. I will add to your list a setting spray. Unless you have very oily skin and your makeup is low quality or you use wrong products (not in accordance with your skin type) you don’t need a setting spray. I never use a setting spray and at the end of the day my makeup looks the same like when I applied.
