After having delivered two excellent Soulslike action RPGs in the Nioh games, Team Ninja is back with another one that has a different flavour to it- if Nioh was their Dark Souls, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is their Sekiro. And yes, that means it's an even more challenging game than the studio's last two efforts.
Mechanically, it's a dense game with a lot going on, so here, we're going to go over a few basic pointers that you should keep in mind as you dive into its offerings.

@@iitzfizz yep I realised I was missing a button prompt (maybe Y and B together). I was just trying to kill him but you get his health so far down and you can activate a dragon power that defeats him and a cut scene play's.

2:30 an important thing to note is that parrying criticals doesnt guarantee a critical strike, but getting your opponents spirit all the way down by damaging them and deflecting their attacks.

Because they don't seem to matter as much as Nioh. It's a little learning curve for nioh but once you know how it works its honestly 100 times better than wo longs

Biggest difference is that gear doesn't have levels other than the star rank, which only determines the amount of affixes. You can also start messing around with the crafting very early on compared to Nioh. I put lightning damage on all my gear and I'm bodying most things I come across with lightning enchant.

@MooseCastle agreed. I just think Nioh did it better. At least it felt better. I made a dope poison build with kusarigama in nioh and all the affinities made sense. It rly hasn't seemed the affinities in wo long make the same impact after playing around with different builds. I pretty much body everything no matter what affinities I have on my gear.

Here’s a good tip don’t waste your time if you still want a working controller or console as the first boss is just to difficult and seriously impossible even when I am level 20.

Load up the boss arena and don't fight him. Do nothing. Just stand there and see how long you can deflect. You need to master deflection before anything else. The timing window is weird in this game so it takes a while. After that you'll beat it, or atleast start getting to phase 2 without taking any damage. KZbin how to bait attacks in phase 2 for an easy win.

Idk why I keep clicking on your videos, with rampant mispronunciations and absurd bullet points like that that tell me the original article was written by someone who is reading from a press release or maybe played 15 minutes of the game and asked a chat ai for differences to nioh and what tips for beginners would be. Both nioh 1 and 2, especially early on when resources and build variety is limited, are some of the hardest souls likes, period. Part of that is the Diablo loot system and reliance on large stat differences where someone who wants to focus on action will have to hit a boss 70-100 times while they can be killed in 2-3 hits or even one shot. The Nioh series is challenging even for souls vets. This game is a cakewalk catered to newcomers, which I don't have a problem with, but saying it's more difficult than nioh because "as souls is to nioh, sekiro is to wo long" is an absolute joke and whoever wrote that and the separate guy that read it who I'm convinced doesn't even play video games, should be ashamed. I'm not an "all game journalists are noobs" type but the output from this channel is so bad that it brings down my respect for this modern incarnation of the profession as a whole.

It's curious how most reviewers say that this game is more difficult than Nioh while players often say the opposite. I've even seen people tell that deflecting and parrying isn't even necessary and dodging works as well. I'm so confused about all of this.

People are never happy. They’re upset about no stances and only light and heavy attack when DS was the same. Light heavy attack only. They also fail to see this isn’t technically Nioh 3. Then they complain about enemy variety when lots of great games do the same.

I LOVE the three kingdoms lore but this game has so many weird systems and gameplay feels so wrong . But i also HATED Sekiro. Like if they JUST had basic combat it would be fun but these elements , deflecting , etc systems ruin it for me.
