There is also a massive focus on loot and gear, which creates a problem that was also present in Nioh- equipment management. Inventory screens are just a jumble of numbers and minor percentages that don’t really affect gameplay that much from what I could tell, and only serves to confuse and overwhelm. If you like micromanaging stats down to the smallest percentage, you’ll love it, but I opted to pick the largest numbers and dump everything else.
Ultimately, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is a fun Soulslike that, while still providing a challenge, will be a breeze for seasoned Soulslike players

Dont f believe it.. it’s not easy. I’ve platinumed bloodborne and Elden ring.. sekiro.. but after 8 hours it’s frustrating because for some reason they put the dodge button on the same as deflect. As well as the devs desperately pushing you to use deflect, even over actually attacking. This is because after a few hits your “spirit level” (energy) depletes and your left open. Problem is you are gassed too easily. Few hits and a dodge and you’re left open. So it’s better to stand there and deflect to immediately get energy back. It’s very frustrating.

And Elden ring bosses aren't hard they just have a rhythm that you have to get used to once you have it you'll get em'

People don't realize the excess loot is there for a reason - selling and salvage. You get skills from weapons and you need a lot of money in the game for upgrading. Not sure about too much loot complaint. If you stay on top of items collected after each level thats about 5 minutes. Or play a few missions then spend 10 - 15 minutes going through things. Thats part of the fun. You lock what you want to keep, salvage other weapons/armors for transferable skills, then just sell all. Its rather simple.

I’m bad and finally got through it. Be kind of aggressive on the first phase while deflecting. 2nd phase just run around til he throws his arm at you and deflect that. Get him down to half health and do animal summon thingy. Look at it as good practice.

Its a trimmed down Nioh that tries to expand on the combat by adding elements of Sekiro while also doing something a little different. The demo was a ton of fun so if the rest of the game is anything like that then it will be a good time for me. I have 500 hours in Nioh 2 and could not tell you what the hell that story was. If this game means that we will get a Wo-Long 2 that expands one this game the way Nioh 2 did for Nioh 1 then I could not be happier.

I’ve never played soul like games before and recently got this off game pass out of curiosity and it’s free! This may be repetitive but the first boss feels too difficult, I’m maybe on my 30th attempt at minimum. I’ve had to watch so many pointer videos as it does so little to educate the newbie early doors. I respect that it could almost be like an initiation, but so many people are gonna quit it early through frustration. Challenge is great but I’m not someone that has hours to spend on games so for me it’s a bit too much. I’m real close to uninstalling at the first boss!

Downloaded the demo. Took me a full evening to beat the first boss, the other bosses after that were a cakewalk. Beat them in max 3 tries. Not sure what they were aiming for with this bizarre difficulty spike so early on. It can easily result in a large chunk of players dropping off early. Shame, because I really like the game.

Yeah the first boss was much harder than the others in the demo, but it prepares you for the bosses after the demo because almost all of them I've faced have been about as challenging as that first boss. I feel like if you were discouraged by the first boss you'd probably end up quitting the game anyways.

That's a horrid idea. Over half time in Elden Ring against Godfrey was horrid at times due his AOE stomp. That's coming from someone who platinumed it solo, and put lot hours into it. I love all the souls games and most the souls likes, but I just don't think those type attacks belong. Typically already to much going on to even see when a AOE like him stomping the ground is going pop off. That's just my opinion so dear elden lord don't try throw me into the cauldron of fire over it. Edit: Still give you like though so.

there is. I ran into a couple bosses that do a wave attack that comes in several waves that you need to jump over. Also one boss that shoots a beam of wind and that beam moves laterally so you need to jump over it as well. I just started and maybe 5 hours in

And in my opinion Elden Ring bosses aren't that fun to fight, they attack constantly barely giving you a chance to publish their moves, if we were allowed to parry them like in sekiro than that'd be much more fun and fair.

I played (or suffered) through Nioh 1 all the way to the first DLC. Then played first DLC, tried many times, but the bosses are enemies are so tanky and insane that it just was no longer fun. Nioh DLCs are clearly intended for people who spent months after game release doing NG+ and levelling. If you bought the game with all DLCs years later (like I did), the DLCs are not fun.

My biggest issue isn’t with loot or any gameplay mechanic. It’s about Team Ninja lack of any memorable environments. They have the same texture templates that they copy and paste over and over in the art design and it pisses me off because I really enjoy the combat. I feel like it’s endless corridors and dilapidated temples.

I pre-ordered last second on pc after playing the demo. I find it to be extremely worth it. Running it on 5900x with 3070ti and 32gb ram. Looks beautiful and I thoroughly enjoy the story so far. Edit: Platinumed both niohs, elden ring, sekiro, and demon souls ps3-dark souls 3 for little background. To me this game comes on top of most of those. Unpopular opinion rn but yea.

Felt like I was the one making the movements. Now I press a button and my dude does 10 somersaults and shoots a dragon out of his ass.

too much demo footage not enough actual mid game content. where is the shrine dojo/game hub like Nioh had? not a very concisive review. did you not play past the demo.

For those who think Wo Long is kind a Nioh 3. NO IT's NOT! Sadly it's not at all. I've got over 800hrs in total in Nioh 1 and 2. I'd say Nioh 2 is an absolute masterpiece, I'm that kind of player who completed the 30 depths after 100 underground floors in NG+++++. Like 99.9% of all players never saw the real endgame. With that said my hope was big that Wo Long could be even better than Nioh 2. Oh boy I was wrong. It's a bad Sekiro clone I'd say. It's a f**** parry/deflect sim like Sekiro. And I hated Sekiro. I'm a stance-player, I loved all (!) From Soft games BUT Sekiro. And sadly they took the worst game (for me) from the From Soft library and made a Sekiro 2 kinda game. Also toned down; less loot, WAY less talents, less deepness, no kodamas, bad graphics, no more endurance (wtf), no more stances (!). But a very boring light-attack spam all the way with deflect/parry windows to pull off some special abilities. That's all!!! It's so f*** bad. Refunded.

I also completed Nioh 2 depth 30 multiple times, I am still trying to find reasons if wo long is worth the €70 price tag, right now I am waiting for Metacritic user reviews. Based on the KZbin reviews I have seen it does not look very good. I want to see a good game that takes place in China, I am annoyed that this game is not meeting that expectation.

Being too parry heavy, and no way to save your progress manually, zhang jiang is too hard for a 1st level boss. Difficulty is too hard. Should have been more simpler. Damn shame, I was excited for this game.

I recommend giving it another shot. This game is kinda whack in that the very first boss is much harder than anything that comes after it for a good hot minute. Seriously, I died upwards of 15 times on him, I'm now 7 hours into the game and so far cleared every other boss in one or two tries. I'd say Nioh 1/2 are harder games. Once you get used to it, deflecting makes everything easy as pie.

This is not a well balanced, or fun game. Save me the git gud fairy shit. I beat that joke of a tutorial boss. It's unacceptable how bad this game is. I'm so glad most are refunding and uninstalling it. I hope they lose as much money as possible. People are tired of this sekiro, souls shit.
