I've ruck 35lbs for 5kms every alternating days and mix it up with push ups against walls/balustrades. I'm 6'1', 200pounds and after three weeks didn't lose a single pound but gained 3.5kgs of muscles according to my smart scale. My gut is smaller too. Its amazing

I've been rucking for about 2 years now. I ran for years, but it really started to beat me up as I got older. I'm also not built like a "runner" (6'4" 240). Rucking has been a great addition to my fitness routine. I know my home state, and it looks like you're rucking in NJ.

It is certainly an enjoyable event, Mr. Waffle. Well... sometimes it is and other times, we really step it up and challenge ourselves. If you are able to carry on a conversation, you aren't rucking fast enough. LOL! It really depends on the focus of the ruck. I have various programs that are built into certain rucks. We use the gear in our rucksacks to exercise with when we get to certain mile markers. The options are countless and easy to vary. I hope you can join us one day. Be safe and thanks for taking the time to comment. -Hg

What about long term issues with rucking - back issues? What do you recommend for old people rucking ? I recently had double hip surgery, do you recommend rucking for my condition?
@CoachHelder
@CoachHelder Жыл бұрын
Hello, I would suggest getting cleared by a medical pro. From there, take a few hikes without a pack. Focus on distance not time. Once you are comfortable with that distance, add your rucksack with very little weight. From there, increase the weight in your pack by a pound or 2 each week or every couple of weeks. I am actually working on a rucking program. It should be live within the next 2 months. If you are interested, be sure to subscribe and stay posted. Slow and steady os usually the best and most sustainable route. -Hg

There are many factors such as your current physical condition and of course, your goal(s.) Keep in mind that pace, distance and the amount that you are carrying all play a big role in this equation.
