Organic everything is great. However, to be clear, already ground flours of any grain starts to lose its nutritional value at the moment it is milled. Buying huge quantities of already milled flour defeats the purpose. Best would be to buy the whole grain (as it will store for many years) , then grind it as needed.

You two are adorable. Loved this. Your tips were certainly helpful and I'm going to look a few of those items up right now. My only critique is the word "de-thaw." Unless I am mistaken, and I'm willing to admit if I am, the words to use are thaw or defrost. But hey, I'm from the mid south and we use all kinds of unique words. So y'all do you. Thanks again.

Thank you, Greg! You learn a lot about your vocabulary usage after you film yourself. Somebody else pointed that out I didn't even notice it until they did. We also say "these ones" a lot. I've only ever ordered from Azure one time--back in Texas. But I've been thinking a lot lately I should get on that again. I will try the tortillas you suggested because I haven't been able to find a good brand I like lately. We eat quesadillas often. But BTW my children don't know that most people don't eat quesadillas with a handful black beans sprinkled in between the two layers with the cheese--you should try it if you are into black beans. I feel like it increases the nutrition but it really doesn't mess with the texture because the beans are soft. So I don't feel bad letting my kids eat quesadillas all the time:-)
@Aprons.Overalls2 жыл бұрын
That is great your kids think that is just how a regular quesadilla is! That is how Ben and I like to eat them. We will add ground beef or shredded chicken, corn and peppers too! Our toddler used to enjoy the black beans but has entered a picky stage and will only eat quesadillas with cheese. 😂

I have been a long time Azure Standard customer, but lately have been disappointed with order fulfillment. More often than not now, items I order will be added to my monthly list only to drop off as backordered or unavailable later. Some will come back on the list only to drop off later. I've even tried paying for the monthly order in hopes to "lock-in" my purchase. Doesn't make any difference. My last order was hardly worth the drive to the pick up location as only about 25% of what I ordered actually made it on the truck.

Thank you for sharing, Colleen! We'll have to try the pepper jack cheese. $500 is starting to become our average order size these days. We are so impressed with the quality that it's hard to go back to "regular" food. And yes, the buckets and jars seem to be never ending. We just finished washing 3 more to add to our pantry. :)
@ColleenH382 жыл бұрын
@@Aprons.Overalls $500 sounds like so much BUT I am buying so much less at the regular grocery store. Still bulk shopping at Sam's and Costco for cleaning and paper supplies. We buy all of our beef, chicken, and eggs from a local farmer. Just trying to keep our pantries and freezers at full capacity at all times. Prices and shortages are a real problem. We are about to buy two more upright freezers. I honestly feel like we are in a race against time. Thankfully we have been heavily stocking since March 2020. Every once in a while I look at our supplies from food and grains to q tips and toothpaste, and feel we are in excellent shape for more than a year. Then I read something or watch a video that makes me feel like I can't stop adding to our supplies. Not in anyway like a "hoarder" or insane amounts of anything but some of everything we use on a normal basis. I honestly believe that next year is when we will see serious shortages due to crops and livestock issues going on right now. We are going to see a crisis like most of us have never seen in our lives. PREPARE as much as possible.
@Aprons.Overalls2 жыл бұрын
@@ColleenH38 WELL SAID, Colleen! We are of the same mindset. Acting with logic and reason and not out of fear. Everything we are stocking up on will get used and won't be wasted so we'd rather buy when we can now in case that is not an option in the future. Worse case, things don't get worse and we get to recover financially by using the items we've stocked up on. So happy to meet other like-minded families out there! Thank you for sharing. :)
@ColleenH382 жыл бұрын
@@Aprons.Overalls Exactly. I have been adding slow and steady while always using the food/items, rotating, and replacing. This year I have focused more on wheat berries, organic oats, fats, etc and canning/freezing more than normal. My husband is a hunter so we will fill at least one freezer with venison each year and harvest for our son and his family as well. Only those that are preparing will get through what's ahead. Sadly our government and society has created a whole lot of people who will wait for government checks, handouts, family and neighbors to "save them". We will take care of our own family. Everyone in America has seen this coming for a very long time. Adding even $5.00 extra in canned goods or a bag of flour, rice and beans adds up over time.

@Aprons.Overalls2 жыл бұрын
There are drop points across the country. Once a month a semi truck pulls into a church parking lot, for example, and everyone meets there and helps unload the goods. It goes really fast. Your items are packed into boxes and you load what is yours. The cold goods are in the refrigeration portion of the truck. Societal norms make the concept seem odd but it's our preferred way to shop now. We rarely go to traditional grocery stores. The quality is that good. The people at the drop locations are so nice. We've become friends with many at ours.

@Aprons.Overalls2 жыл бұрын
It's a shared shipping cost between everyone's items on the truck. As you add items to your cart, it will update and display what your total share of the shipping expense is. We've found it to be reasonable but certainly something to factor in when comparing prices to others.
@myworke-mail339 Жыл бұрын
Depends on your zip code, where I live, it is now FREE :o). There was a charge years ago, but now there is not, so I'm not sure if the number of people regularly ordering makes a difference with that. There are three drop sites in my area. When I first moved here there were zero.

Opps, should of kept watching longer. So how long does it last shredded in your refrigerator?
@Aprons.Overalls2 жыл бұрын
@@BJ-kp3rp We go through the cheese pretty quickly. Once opened, we try to use it or freeze it. If we don't open the package it comes in it will last a good amount of time in the refrigerator. For the frozen cheese that we shred and bag, we tend to have it used within 7 days after we thaw a bag and place it in the refrigerator. We've honestly never experienced any molding so I'm not sure what the maximum time is before we would start having issues. We currently have 3 large blocks of the cheese sitting, unopened in the refrigerator waiting to be shredded, bagged and frozen. It'll keep out there fine for a few weeks until we are ready.
