We call them apple bananas in Hawaii or you can find them in the store as Manzana Banana "Spanish for apple banana". They are my favorites. They are a little more tangy than traditional Cavendish bananas you find in most US grocery stores. If you find them try them. They are awesome.

@maxsdad538

You're missing the point. You don't dehydrate foods for health benefits, you do it for weight and storage. And dehydrating doesn't remove ALL vitamin C, but it CAN remove up to 55% with fruits like apples, apricots, peaches, and prunes (source: Wiley Encyclopedia of Food Science and Technology).

@@nagwagi2000 what kind of fruit u want to dry?.. say u want to dry figs, first they have to be clean&, ripe.. you press them just a litle bit, put them on a cartton box, and add lemon juice on top, cover them with a gauze cloth , this will help to protect the fruit for any bugs etc and, lemons help to avoid any mold,ir any strange coloration, however it hast to be taken out when the climate is really hot and dry, you take the fruit inside by night, and out by day for around 8 days, but not all fruit has the same process, because of the texture,

We are waiting for our built-in dehydrator machine that we order from a local mechanic here in Jogja. He is just like a MacGyver who can build any machines. You most certainly can. I do it all the time. As of late I've been prepping using my dehydrator almost full time while I'm awake. Scheduling often has me at the point where I turn the dehydrator off. Why would I do such? I live in an arid environment where it has been hitting 100 degrees outside everyday. So I have set my dehydrator on my patio table under the patio cover. I'm letting nature supply half the. heat needed. I could set the timer to turn off the unit at 3am or whatever time I think the job would be completed. Problem is that insects, possums, rats etc.... might find the aroma too tempting to not try for a score. So I just turn the unit off and take it inside until the AM where I then take it outside to complete.

Dehydrating machines can be found online at various retailers, and their prices can vary depending on factors such as brand, size, features, and quality. It's recommended to compare different models and read customer reviews to find a dehydrator that suits your needs and budget. 🙂🙂🙂

Litebella Domingo Yes. Make sure you protect your food from insects and animals. There’s a lot of info about dehydrating food online if you search. (I don’t know specifics, because I use a machine.)
