I saw The Hours at a young age and I was possibly too young to really understand the themes, etc. but I remember being so deeply affected by Julianne Moore’s performance. I had never seen any actor portray dissatisfaction, suppressed feelings and solemnity in such a way, and it sticks in my heart still. Love to see Julianne getting her flowers with videos like this.

Yes, I adore her in The Hours, too. Thanks for watching!

I'm so happy to see The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio (2005) and The English Teacher (2013) here. I find both films incredibly entertaining and criminally overlooked. I'd add Roommates (1995), Evolution (2001), The Shipping News (2001), The Forgotten (2004) and my personal favorite - Blindness (2008)

My favourite JM performances include Boogie Nights, Magnolia, The Kids are All Right, A Single Man, Carrie, and Far From Heaven which I thought should’ve been the movie for her to win her Oscar instead of Still Alice......it feels a bit of a makeup win for her. I actually worked with her once when she came to Toronto to do Carrie remake. I made her costumes, and she wanted to see how I worked in the sewing room as part of her own preparation for her character who sews all her own and her daughter’s clothes. That was a starstruck moment to meet her.

Julianne Moore has always been one of my Top 5 actresses. I think everyone should see Maps to The Stars, but Chloe has not aged well upon rewatch. The Forgotten is another one of my favorites, and doesn't get the recognition it deserves among sci-fi thrillers.

Came across the Oscar reaction video then went on to check out your channel and saw this, then I subscribed right away! Loved your inclusion of "The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio", "Maps to the Stars", "The English Teacher" and "Chloe", but "Blindness" and "Gloria Bell" should've been on this list too. Grateful to see this video and hopefully you can do a real Top 10 Julianne Moore's Performances video as well. As a huge fan of hers, there's nothing better than seeing your favourite actor's best works being celebrated.

@@TheAwardsContender Absolutely!!! If you take requests, I'd love for you to do a video on an actress that has been nominated 6X, but never won for Best Supporting Actress....Thelma Ritter!!!!!

I just added 4 of these to my Netflix queue, so thank you for that! Moore is one of my absolute favorites, mainly because she elevates any film in which she appears. My favorite Moore performance is in "Far from Heaven," which is typically on my Top 10 list of favorite films. On a side note, her work in "The End of the Affair" (opposite Ralph Fiennes) is also fantastic and underappreciated.

I don't think there's any reason to diminish Julianne Moore's Oscar win for Still Alice, an incredible film about dementia with none of the gimmickry of The Father or A Beautiful Mind - just a tremendous performance through which the story and the experience of Alzheimer's is told with quiet, devastating impact. If you don't think it was memorable, you probably should watch it again. Gloria Bell should be near the top of this list.

Maps to the Stars is so underrated and Moore's performance in that film is why I clicked on this video. The modern day Greek tragedy meets Hollywood narcissism is perfect. Julianne Moore was better than she needed to be in that film which kept critics talking about her, Mia Wasikowska, and Robert Pattison. A bit of a missed opportunity not to include The Kids Are All Right (2010). Julianne has a bunch a solid comedic performances that should be recognized (The Big Lebowski and Evolution being two others). Occasionally prone to starring in flops, Gloria Bell was seen as return to form for Moore.

I only bring this up because it gives me the opportunity to brag about how I was a Julianne Moore fan before everybody else, but I remember when she first showed up on the daytime soap As The World Turns. I remember telling a fellow soap fan that there was a new actress playing Frannie (a long-term character on the show. I think Moore was the 6th or 7th actress to play her in the show's long run). My friend asked me "is she good?" I had to stop and think for a moment before realizing I didn't know, and admitted that the actress was so beautiful that whenever she appeared all I could do was stare at her, and so I didn't know if she could act at all.☺ Before long I learned she was one of the greatest actresses in the world. And she's still so beautiful that sometimes I can still only stare. 😍

@lizardqueen70522 жыл бұрын
not controversial at all i agree, i found jodie bland and her accent bothered the shit out of me, plus she didn´t have the chemistry with Anthony that julianne had, julianne´s clarice was superior in my opinion, especially in the last scene

when I see her I think about "the lost world", which was fine. but mostly I saw her in the 4th season of 30rock. she has no comedic bone in her body. it was so painful to watch. but on the other hand she wasn't the worst thing about this season of 30rock. I don't know. I can't stand her.

Her performance in Savage Grace, with Eddie Redmayne, is shocking, disturbing, *UNFORGETTABLE!* The murder was by FAR the least unsettling aspect of the film….
