I am glad I found this channel because I am also a Martial Artist and I damaged my knee from a bad landing after a spin kick. My left knee has been very weak ever since. I cannot jump as high and the knee doesn't feel like it will hold itself together during high-stress activities. Let me know if you have any extra recommendation to further strengthen my knee so I can get back on the action. Thank you!

I have patella tendonitis in my right knee since october 14 2016 (last squat session) and since that i didnt perfom a back squat only box squat since last week. Im a strength training athlete and for us moblity is really important (which i do have) but increasing the mobility and DO STRETCHING especially static is a must after each workout. I had tight quads thats why i got tendonitis.

Hey bro I have an acl tear and a meniscus tear. And I decide not to get surgery. Do you think I could recover doing pt or should I get the surgery. I'm a pro wrestler.
@nelsongonzalez8304
@nelsongonzalez8304 8 жыл бұрын
PT input: If you want to avoid surgery, you will need some rehab to strengthen the leg in order to avoid further injuries. ACL protects from letting the lower leg (tibia) translated anteriorly on the upper leg (Femur), therefore you will definately need to strengthen your Hamstrings along with getting some generalized strengthening, neuromuscular re-education and balance training. Since your occupation involves high stress/risk scenarios, you may want to consider surgery. There are what is known as 'Copers' and 'Non-copers', which means if someone can regain their pre-injury lifestyle without ACL surgery. It's hard to tell which category you fit via the short post you provided. Summary: get a script from your physician for some PT to try the conservative approach. If that fails, surgery will be your other option. PS. Depending on the severity/location of the meniscus tear, you may/may not require surgery. You will require diagnostic imaging to figure that one out. More centralized tears tend to not heal due to less vascularity than peripheral tears. If your knee tends to get "stuck" in a bent or straightened position, then Arthroscopy will be needed.

Nelson Gonzalez thank you so much. After reading what u wrote I realized not getting surgery was smart. I've been doing pt quite often. And training legs as much as possible. I've been able to return to activity like before the injury. And honestly it feels like 80%. Although not 100%. I hope it gets better. Now let's say I do do surgery. Will 100% recovery be achieved by doing so? Thank u so much.

New subscriber, great videos. Question ,I had orthoscopic meniscus surgery 5+ years ago. My knee clicks/cracks, almost pops at least 5x a day. Imy still active /workout 3x a week but always go easy on leg days. I squat , leg extensions on plate loaded machine, modified lunges etc. Should I not do these exercises? Any suggestions? When I don't lift legs I feel like it's worse but I try to maintain a strength in my quads / hamstrings.

Doc. For knee clicking, what do you recommend? As in who to see? My 8yo son has had it most times he squats for as long as I can remember...like when he was 2to3yo. He's a serious athlete and has no pain in it. Doing 12hrs of hard physical training a week. His pediatrician said its normal in some people. I don't agree. I'm thinking he will accelerate knee wear leading to knee issues. I was doing a 2 piece approach. Stretching and tissue work (rolling, massage, etc). I am going to add strengthening of the vastus medialis and glute work. Also proprioception work. Thanks for the video.

Hi activ chiropractic not sure if you'll see this but are all of these exercises safe for knees with a completely torn acl?ive been starting prehab for surgery in one to two months. Wanting to get best start but i find i struggle between gym sessions every two or three days to find a way to work out. So im hoping to buy therabands and exercise balls for home use. Just wondering which of these exercises and therabands are best for building muscle strength that assist post surgery? Do the tubes work differently to bands?? Be keen if you had a video on daily stretching. Hoping prehab stretching will assist post surgeries as i assume if you take a hamstring graft for example and your muscles tight to begin with..youll feel more pain or tweak it in the months after surgery??

Tresean Gore these injuries may take 8 months -18 months for full recovery . specifically its best to ask a chiropractor or a surgeon
@AirWesley5
@AirWesley5 9 жыл бұрын
+ACTIV CHIROPRACTIC why is it best to ask a chiropractor about his rehab? Physical therapists are far more knowledgeable about the rehab process and prognosis, particularly in the knee.
@AirWesley5
@AirWesley5 9 жыл бұрын
+Tresean Gore I would be careful about asking online "professionals" about your rehab, particularly with body parts they don't typically deal with. I would consult with your physical therapist and surgeon rather than a chiropractor. Just watching this video there are several things he says which are incorrect and exercises he demonstrates which aren't done properly.
@Activchiro

+Wesley Wang Great feedback Wesley . +Tresean Gore , Wesley Is correct don't trust anyone on the internet . I'm sure you are aware many countries have different criteria in training to become a health professional, I was trained in Australia , where we need to study rehabilitation too . I don't consider myself to be the best . However before I became a Chiropractor I studied to be become a Exercise Physiologist. I would have to agree with you the Physiotherapist , Occupational therapist , Exercise physiologist , Strength and Conditioning Coaches may have more training in rehabilitation than the average chiropractor and even surgeon / medical doctor. Thanks for commenting. Great videos by the way , keep up the great work.

Hi Maria, Im a physiotherapist in the UK. It fefinitely could be involved. A large number of audible clicks come from your patella femoral joint (kneecap+groove), which is largely controlled by the VMO, amongst other things. Having a good strong VMO will help with the alignment of your joint.Karl

All the reaserch concludes that you can't isolate the vmo tho?, I need to build vmo without working the outside quad.
@Activchiro
@Activchiro 4 жыл бұрын
This is true. However you can activate as much as you can by using different positions compared to just going through normal movements.

My knee often subluxated when I was younger but it did it again as I went over on my ankle. Its quite swollen but believe keeping it moving is important. It happened last week. I can bend it but not fully and I can weight bare on it. when can I start these exercises. I am a bit reluctant with all the swelling

Hey mate, I have been dealing with basically chronic knee pain for years now due to a meniscus tear which created a cyst in the back of my kneecap. I had keyhole surgery on the knee and was told to slowly strengthen the surrounding. It has been a few years now and the pain is persisting and actually seems worse. The worst pain comes from squatting, just before I hit parallel it feels as if there is some sort of pressure/click waiting to release but never does. I have been weight training for years and this is severely hindering my squat progress, as I can get a few reps out of ~100kgs on the bench but struggle to squat 90kg. Are there any exercises which would strengthen the muscles that take the pressure off the front of the patella when performing a squat? Cheers
@Activchiro
@Activchiro 9 жыл бұрын
The clicking may be due to a loose body in the knee cap. Get a ultrasound to make sure so you don't get arthritis. You may have a subluxation of the need and need to mobilise it. Probably google that

+ACTIV CHIROPRACTIC please help me sir. I am 16 year old boy . now I am in 11th standard (India) .last year due to my board exams I was completely aiming for studies I had left almost all sports. I felt pain at that time climbing stairs, mainly two steps at once. then after passing boards(10th) ,during vacation I played sports(football on concrete mainly ) .by the end of the summer vacation ( of India) I called home my kickboxing sir (had before coached me from 4th std till 5th std then stopped due to studies.I was quite flexible back then) to coach me we did kicks on one day,functional on the other and functional on the other and abs on the other. that is 3 times a week( coach is top gym trainer at best gym in city). then slowly I started developing knee pain ,mainly on the inner side .I went to 1st doctor.he gave me vitD3 capsules. no result for a month .then I went to a 2nd doc ( orthopedic surgeon) told me problem could be because of my functional flat foot and my kickboxing so he told me to wear knee support while playing ,arc support shoes(I bought nike zoom structure 18)and wear thick slippers at home .he gave me but D3 injection(once a week,for 3 weeks) ,vitC tablets for 2 weeks and calcium tablets for 1 month .I did all that he said except wearing slippers at home.but no relief .this pain only comes when I walk slowly (not while running) and when I am sitting sometimes. now I have gone to another doctor who gave me some medicine he told me that flat foot is not the problem .the problem is just because my growing age.please help I I am starting with whole body strengthening exercise (for parkour,which I will start when I have fully functional athletic body.and am going to get it because parkour is my dream .don't hurt my feelings by giving me an answer/solution asking me leave exercise. .......please.........I need help

thanks for keep answering my questions, too bad you are not around me to ask this questions in person. ok here I go I am 39 years old man now I had always loved soccer. when I was 21 I torn my ACL of my right knee, until I was 28 I was able to have my surgery, but between that time I would feel my knee strong enough to go and play again knowing that I need a surgery. and soon enough I would have a swollen knee or completely out of position. after surgery and my rehab I was able to play again, but only lasted a year or two then swollenness again I went back to surgeon and after an MRI he then told me I had worn my bones in a way that they couldn't be scratch (if this make any sense to you) and that he diagnose me with arthritis in my knee that my knee was actually 30 years older than me and could never play again and needed glucosamine and chondroitin for life. I could play once in a while but my knee gets swollen and bending on my knees when has been swollen I am just not able to stretch, it feels like something inside is pulling me and doesn't let me stretch it and it's frustrating when at work I need to do this movement then I can't even walk. I feel that I made my story too long and have not even ask you exactly what I want to ask
@carlosmeneses7098

Hi Nick previously I was explaining what has gone on with my knee, my question is if there will be the possibility that this discomfort that I feel might be something different that my arthritis because the way I feel something in there and also some times I try to stretch my leg and I feel a slightly painful crack, some times after the crack I feel better most I don't I even feel like I broke something inside my knee. I feel desperate and wish I could ask you this questions in person I feel that I am not explaining my self and getting side track from the original question

This is a common sign that there is a loose body or meniscus issue in the knee . its best to get a MRi to make sure and diagnose properly.
