I live in Ft. Lauderdale and it is NOT for children. My children are grown and I would never raise children here because the schools are not good unless you send them to Pine Crest which is extremely pricey. Advertisements for strip clubs all over and the store Hustler which lights up like a Las Vegas hotel. If you're going to go to Ft. Lauderdale with children go west where the families are away from the grittiness of Ft. Lauderdale. Pembroke Pines, like mentioned I would recommend.

All the top 10 places are actually suburbs of Ft Lauderdale where you can find great public schools, safer neighborhoods and friendly neighbors.
