Just wanted to give you a heads up. The first title match was a 60 minute Four Way Ironman match, not an elimination match. Also Final Battle 2009 was not the first ROH PPV, Respect is Earned in 2007 was. However you'd be right if you mean first ever live PPV. You are also right about Jay Lethal, he has been an ROH Champion (counting the World and TV reigns) for over two years and people haven't got bored of him. He knows how to do his job.

+GoofyWillows Well first off the Draft will be the most interesting thing WWE has done all year, they are contacting lots of people for returns and bring star power and the idea of stars from NXT coming up. The idea that everything will different ans split out is fun and gives anticipation. All because you are all moody doesn't mean you have to go ruin someone else's fun. Go to the smark forums if you want to ruin fun but with wider acceptance.

I'm a very naive/ignorant wrestling fan. I will admit that. All I've known is WCW/WWF/WWE, I knew a little about TNA, but didn't like it years ago. But this year is the year I'm acknowledging more wrestling brands out there. Hell, I've even gotten into TNA now all thanks to that Hardy promo within their home. I've wanted to watch Lucha Underground for a long time, I even follow them on Twitter, but there's never enough time. Now I want to go back and watch the likes of CM Punk, Kevin Steen, Seth Rollins, ect... in ROH. But no worries, I will keep caught up on WCPW because I've been here from the start of it, so no way am I going to ignore it. You guys are great. I never know if you read my comments, but I really love this channel. It's informative for someone like me that used to be so ignorant and only know of WWE and thought of TNA as a WWE rip off. Lol. Thanks for being a channel.

Tyler Black (Seth Rollins) was so much better in the ROH. It's as if wrestlers lose all their wrestling moves and skill when they enter the WWE. Look at Kevin Steen, or Danielson, sure they're still one of the most technical wrestlers in the WWE, but they had so many more awesome moves in the ROH.
@TheFancyMentlegen8 жыл бұрын
Y'know, that's the reason Daniel Bryan had to retire so young, right? Because during his ROH and indie years, he went all out in every match he performed in. By the time he got to the WWE, he was already battered and broken, it's amazing we got the years we got from him. When you get to the WWE, you are told to tone it down because if you were to perform like you'd perform on the indie scene, with the WWE's grueling schedule, absolutely no one would make it past 35, let alone into their 40's.

Fairly good list, but you can kinda tell this is done by someone not really familiar with ROH history. No mention of the Danielson and McGuinness World Title rivalry (which, next to Punk vs. Joe is THE in ring feud that ROH is best known for), inflated praise for Jerry Lynn's and Tyler Black's reigns when both were mostly panned at the time (though Tyler had classics with Steen and especially Davey Richards, among others), praising the Tyler/Aries 1hr draw, which was one of the most poorly received main events in history that had the crowd chanting stuff like "please end this match" by the time it closed out.

Have no complaints about the inclusions on the list, but the order is a bit messed up. Although his title run was great, it does not belong in the top five. I'd put him at 6 or 7. I'd rank Aries above Lethal, especially given Aries' second title run, which was a textbook example of how to be a heel champion. The only major hiccup in that run was the one hour draw with Tyler Black, which was a pretty mediocre match (albeit one that was perfect for his character). I might consider leaving off Low-Ki, but it's hard to imagine who could replace him. The only two major contendors would be Roderick Strong or Davey Richards, but neither had particularly distinguished title runs. In particular, Richards spent much of the first half of his title run either in Japan or in tag matches, rarely defending the belt. As for Strong, it did have a great match with Richards at Final Battle, but nothing truly remarkable other than that. As for the top, an argument could be made for either Bryan Danielson or Samoa Joe. Joe was the guy who really brought the title into the limelight, with great match after great match. And yet, Bryan took that prestige to the next level, defending it against just about all of the major ROH competitors as well as others around the world such as KENTA and Lance Storm.

I attended Punk's final bout in ROH back in 2005. I was a 13 year old kid at the time. I used to attend every Chicago show when they would come to town from Third Anniversary Spectacular Night 3, (two Chicago shows before Punk's last,) up until about 2012ish.

I'm glad Jerry Lynn gets some recognition. I remember when he won the belt, people weren't into it because they felt it should go to Seth Rollins, which I can see why. He was the young, hot prospect at the time. But I also think that Lynn, despite his age, was having some of the best matches of his career and it's a great story of the old veteran getting that one last shot at glory.
