Lily of the valley is a rhizomatous perennial not a shrub. There may be a shrub commonly called that but they showed the real lily of the valley

Yeah...don't plant your hydrangea in full south Texas or Gulf coast sun. No matter how much you water them, it's not enough water.

Sumac is shade intolerant, at least in these parts.

It spreads by underground root system & becomes invasive in the right conditions. Not something to plant in an urban landscape or city lot IMO.
