Another important lesson to be learned from this video is this: even seasoned trout fishers like Jordan sometimes get skunked. Don't take it personal, learn and keep trying!
@catfishman951610 ай бұрын
Lol, if these videos teach anything it’s that everyone gets skunked often.

I'd rather get skunked than have to work!
@maritzsa8 ай бұрын
i know some viewers prob hate that they watch a video with no catches in it, but I enjoy that this channel does not make a perfectly edited video of them just catching fish back to back. Sometimes when I watch other fishing videos and its always catching fish, I feel really sad when I get skunked. In truth getting skunked is very common from my understanding and there is a saying in Turkish for hunting that goes: "For nine days you will get sole meat, for 1 day you will get wild-caught meat". It is really hard to translate without it sounding stupid in English but it basically means that a hunter will spend 9 out of 10 days constantly walking, spending time on his feet looking for a prey to no avail, eventually having to "eat" the bottom of his feet since it gets all swollen and tender from constantly being on your feet. It just refers to the challenge of hunting, and it is not easy, you need to work for it.

yep, i just go out fishing hoping to meet people. So it's never really a let down. Most days i get skunked, but it's those days on the last cast that you land a fish is worth it!

couple things you brushed over. No matter what line you have on your reel, always use lighter line for the leader so it breaks off first and you don't lose everything. Another thing, when you are fishing on the bottom with floating power bait, i like to leave some slack in the line unless its windy so it bows downwards, especially if you are using a sliding sinker (which is free to slide along the line). this lets the fish take and drop the bait multiple times. If its windy, i like to keep it tighter, and if they bite you lose the tension and you know you got hit and to pay attention. when you cast, leave the bail OPEN until the weight is on the bottom, you get the farthest possible cast and it sinks straight down. When you tighten, avoid dragging the weight on the bottom unless thats a way to attract fish as it creates movement, i have had lots of bites right after giving it a pull. when you drag the weight on the bottom, its the perfect way to get snagged up on a rock or whatever.

Great tips, Dennis!
@espio23ify Жыл бұрын
There are a ton of extra tips when it comes to these techniques but you can't and wouldn't want to cover all that nuance in a video like this. Also, leaving the bail open can cause the leader to twirl and tangle around your mainline. With a tight mainline to a sinking egg weight it keeps your mainline out of the way.

It’s awesome he still made this video even though he didn’t catch anything. I could see someone else going back and re-creating this day to make it seem like they caught 500 fish right after walking out of Walmart, like trout were just raining from the heavens and cracking them in the face. Thanks for all the tips.

These are all really good methods mentioned in this video. Another thing that can help is research your area a bit and learn the waters close to you. As an example my state has four trout parks and each one is very different from the others, but they all have methods that will work well and some overlap. And one of the big things is always remember just have fun and pass it on.

I use the 7ft Light action in the Micro Series rod (nicknamed it the 'My little Trout Buster") paired with a Lews Laser Lite Speed Spin 75 spooled with 10 lb braid. I caught a 4 + pound, 18-20 inch channel catfish on it back in September, it handled it like a champ. I know that rod won't have any issues should I hook up with a big trout this winter. How about the spinner on the Snell hooks they work when there sooper pressured fish that didn't want to hit with power baits on it. Is worked for me for ever. The roster tail value pack is $12 at Walmart and the Panthers Marlene $24 and more at Cabela's or Bass pro shop is $30 for 6 value pack. Is hard to lose them at that price point. One question where is the spring on the hook or you don't like a spring on your hooks for power bait the bait lasts longer on my hook.

as an avid trout fisherman in Colorado where our lakes produce very good size Rainbows also some Kokanee salmon which arent Native to Colorado but are in fact landlocked form of sockeye salmon..i use a medium lite rod with 10 pound line as they are average 16-18 inchs and 4-6 pounds..as they are not a stocked fish,which stock fish dont give a fight because they are hand or mechanical feed but being a Rainbow or Kokanee being born in the lakes and growing and feeding themselves they give one hell of a fight also gotta use some drag on your reel
