I just know that these old game challenge videos kept randomly appearing and it's dudes with face cams that do tons of unfunny editing and ending up failing at the end anyway. Some do some don't but the whole video was not entertaining with them constantly talking, zooming in when they yell and saying how hard the AI is...in very hard mode

Budokai 2 &3 were my jam when young, I would play with the hardest settings in the regular fights just to create a win streak till one of the guys came and thought “hey I can beat this kid, he’s playing on the lowest setting anyway.” Boom, smacked down with one of the low tier characters. If I really wanted to make them feel bad I’d pull out Hercule, Mr Satan for the win. Cause ‘I got the absolute proof’

It took me almost a year to beat him. I had to put it on very easily, which I hate to do, and even then, it was still hard. The reason Kid Buu was so difficult to beat was because he was too advanced for this game. He had so many combos that all the other characters lacked in Budokai 2, which we were all upgraded in Budokai 3, which is why he was less difficult to defeat in that game. Oh yeah, not to mention, you have to fight him more than once. 😂

Beating kid buu in this game is actually quite easy. With Goku and Gohan, it's ridiculously easy. All you have to do is to keep dashing to the sides and always starting your combos with KKKK. Once you get kid buu with KKKK, you dash again to his back, and then do a long combo ending with either a warp kamehameha or kamehameha. I used toalways have enough ki doing this to just stay SS3 the whole fight. With Vegeta, it's a bit trickier. You do the same, dash to its sides in order to get under his defenses, then dash to the back and do a couple of >PPPK in a row, and then end it eith either a Galick Gun or Big Bang Attack. You could chain 4 or 5 >PPPK in a row to get Vegeta's ki up. With Trunks, you could do either a couple of Burning Attacks, and pepper in some Burning Slashes on the side.

For me personally, I so loved Budokai 1's story mode that I measured every DBZ game's story to that bar. That was the most I had ever been into a story mode and it was in large part due to the really fleshed out cutscenes. I still remember my reaction when I clicked on story mode for Budokai 1 and the first thing I see is a damn near frame for frame recreation of Raditz coming to earth. I couldn't wait to see those same fleshed out cutscenes for my favorite Majin Buu moments and so when I played this and I saw a board game I was beyond disappointed lol. My friends and I still laugh about my reaction. We played the story for hours and I kept saying "nah this isn't the real story. The cutscenes are gonna come later" Then we beat it and we were legit depressed lol. If Budokai's story mode was never a thing I probably wouldn't have had a problem with Budokai 2 but I will never defend their choice to do a damn board game. This is why I'm so excited for Kakarot. Those cutscenes look so great and the open world details are pretty interesting. With that said, The gameplay for this was great and I will give them all the credit for revamping the engine in comparison to Budokai 1. Other than the story mode it's a really big upgrade from 1 and it laid the ground work for the masterpiece that would ultimately be Budokai 3.

I remember a fair amount of people railing on the mechanics of dbzb2, but as a kid, that board game mechanic for fighting was the shit! Having been brought up on the original budokai, launching kamehas with 1 push was excellent, and the added mini games with ultimate attacks added that little something to the game, as if you really earned that spirit bomb. Also, I never beat kid buu on hard, let alone very hard, you have fulfilled my childhood fight with this video, so much kudos to you!

That being said, I loved that mechanic back in the day, before Internet ruined my perspective of everything and made me cynical. The fact that the stories I played were loosely based on a show that I had rushed downstairs to watch whenever it was on, basically been brought up on, and that influenced my childhood like nothing else did, the fact I could kind of make my "this is how the fights went down" was the best dude, just the best. Until I had sex, that blew this out the water.
