Notes about the opening sequence: 1. Only Alyssane tried to fly north of the wall. Jaehaerys was not there. 2. Tohrren Stark did not treat with Aegon at the wall. He marched south and saw Aegons army and dragons and ultimately decided to bend the knee.

But Aegon *did* take like 5 trips to Winterfell, or at least the North in his reign - I don't know how many progresses Jaehaerys went on, to the North- I just remember reading that he did -- I think, annoyingly that they're conflating a little too much- but I'd rather there be something mentioned there, than nothing...

@@OcarinaSapphr- While Aegon did go on a royal progress, I think he only visited Winterfell once. Either way, they said "King in the North" and "threatened with dragon." which wouldn't be the case post-conquest. Jace even mentioned bending the knee. Aegon would be very exposed if he went up north and started threatening people during the conquest. Seems like an odd thing to change. Found the text about the progress just out of curiosity: "The other half [of his time] he devoted to an endless royal progress, taking his court from one castle to another, guesting with each of his great lords in turn. Gulltown and the Eyrie, Harrenhal, Riverrun, Lannisport and Casterly Rock, Crakehall, Old Oak, Highgarden, Oldtown, the Arbor, Horn Hill, Ashford, Storm’s End, and Evenfall Hall had the honor of hosting His Grace many times, but Aegon could and would turn up almost anywhere, sometimes with as many as a thousand knights and lords and ladies in his train. He journeyed thrice to the Iron Islands (twice to Pyke and once to Great Wyk), spent a fortnight at Sisterton in 19 AC, and visited the North six times, holding court thrice in White Harbor, twice at Barrowton, and once at Winterfell on his very last royal progress in 33 AC."

@@Nope-o8i Agree- it is an odd, & tbh, very unnecessary change to make. But like I said- I'd rather there be _something_ mentioned than nothing; it is a bit annoying that they're conflating so much interesting history- that they're either going to have to backtrack or double down on, should a Conquest-era show be made -- it feels like they're heading slowly into incongruous D&D-territory, though I hope they don't go any further...

@@OcarinaSapphr- Aegons conquest is in development! I instantly thought that they will have to double down and have that scene at the wall now. There is a chance the show gets scrapped, like Snow and Bloodmoon. They are making a lot of changes to simplify things but I think it's unnecessary. Now they are changing the history of Danny's dragons to connect the prophecy. I get the reasoning but it gives me season 7/8 PTSD.

Hugh Hammer in the show looks pretty lovable so shocked to find out he’s gonna be such a menace is interesting, wonder did they change his personality entirely or it’s just masterful manipulation.

In the book they were closed so close that I thought they were having an affair although it's not stated in the book. So I'm glad the show has them having an affair.

I wanna mention: People can be too shocked by raw brutality (these days). I had it with a serial killer teenager torturing a family to death, only audio tale, and witnessed people abandoning the channel, as the shock was too severe. Many people are family people, so showing the messy beheading of a royal or innocent child WOULD make folks feel repelled or disgusted.

Very interesting how they portrayed Aegon II, people thought he’s going to be Joffrey 2.0 (or the OG Joffrey, if you argue it’s the prequel) but he actually doesnt seem too bad, he was nice to Halaena when she was talking about rats which he sees as nonsense, was nice to the small folks by instinct (until corrected and influenced by the others like Otto and Larys), lets his son play around, get drunk with his friends. Stupid, immature but not necessarily pure evil, and seems easily manipulated and influenced by the others.

I do like what they are doing with Aegon . He is imperfect and wants to be loved ! I am in some ways similar ! I usually try to make others happy even though it’s impossible ! So I can relate to this side of himself ! Also I was alone most of my life and did t receive love but yet have so much to give ! I now put it towards my daughters ! So if aegon goes nutts and wants war ! I would be the same way if someone savagely murdered my child ! I wouldn’t care about anything else ! All that would matter is revenge ! 💯

There is a chance that Aegon and Helaena still have their second son. In the book the twins are six while their brother is two. The could write it in that Helaena is pregnant atthe time or shortly after as the twins are 4 in the show

I don't think they'll let that happen. They have too much riding on the success of hotd. If they mess it u noone will be interested in the next spin offs coming! They have made changes but they don't seem too bad. Different looks to help the.story isn't too bad. And making aegon not the terrible tyrant i think makes it so people won't just be like get rid of him now. And the sound of blood and cheese was enough! And at least it's better than what their doing to star wars and lotr!

Condell loves the source material though and George is a producer. Let's not just assume every change was his idea alone.
