Video description: Guided-missile ships are designed to launch anti-aircraft guided missiles. Many are also equipped to carry out anti-submarine, anti-air, and anti-surface operations. Some of them are Hundreds of feet in length and displacing tens of thousands of tons, their size allowed them to carry the largest guns and the thickest armor. While these surface combatant warships are massive weapons, some are larger than others. We sought out the largest of them all and ranked them according to displacement to determine the top 10 biggest operational Guided Missile ships in the world today.

One thing to point out：ship classification is not completely based on displacement. Most modern destroyers are identical in size with some WWII cruisers, yet they’re still called destroyers because they usually play supportive roles in a fleet, such as anti-air, anti-sub and etc. Russian cruisers tend to be flag ships of their fleets (while US form its fleets around carriers), these vessels are usually at the commanding position, they also have good capability of fighting on their own. As for US Ticonderoga class cruiser, they’re not really a good example because they were originally designed and categorized as DDGs, but then switched to cruisers because of political reasons XD

US Zumwalt class has small number, production stopped, shapes look weird and inferior to Chinese Type 055 which is currently under mass production. As a prudent estimation, Type 055 is at least the second from the top as it has massive fire power

DDG1000 is not a successful design at present, but Indians only look at the appearance. It seems that it is difficult for them to understand what kind of weapon is a good one.

Mass production? They plan to have 8 ships which don’t even have more missiles due to the vls size not alllowing as many as the Ticonderoga class. And the Zumwalt will soon be equipped with hypersonic ship killer missiles (in 2024) meaning it will be just as capable as other ships. Don’t believe the 055 propaganda, it’s not THAT good.

The Ticonderoga Class was original a successor of the Spruance / Kidd Destroyer design added the aegis system. They should come in service as destroyers but with a price tag of 800 mio per unit they were political declared as cruisers to replace the older cruisers of Leahy / Belknap class and the cruisers modified from ww2, like Albany. This decision was the death of the nuclear powered strike cruisers in size between Slava and Kirov, Bit also the birth of the Arleigh-Burke Class as smaller and cheaper Variant of Ticonderoga class.

That ship got stuck at Suez Canal can be the biggest naval surface combatant. It has a displacement of 350,000 tons and carries 20,000 containers. If the top layer of 5,000 containers were used as concealed missile erectors, then it can carry out a campaign on its own, equivalent of a carrier fleet strength.

6:40 some source even dubbed Type 055 'Renhai' as Battleship. even in truth its hulls are armorless. this could be due to the translations of '戦艦' which Chinese media describe this thing. even Indian media took incorrect chinese translations of the same term.. But its size is very impressive. a lil bit bigger and armored hull with their oversized antiship missiles and it could be a new BB of 21st Century. it did compell Japan to develop their large missile ship.. mainly to meet with Chinese and North Korean ICBMs that could hit Japan at any moment.... that new Japanese warship project is designed to shoot down ICBM in orbit.

Type 055 is 180m in length and displace 12,500 tonnes. Kirov is a 28,000 tonnes, 252m in length. What's with all the erroneous info in this video?
