I am reading the Sevenwaters series because of your recommendation and absolutely loving them. In terms of a reread I would love to dive back into The Martian by Andy Weir because I raced through it the first time and loved it. However the books I tend to reread over and over again are the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy series ❤️

Every year, I make a list of 10 books I want to read that year, and in 2018, I included 5 books I wanted to re-read, and I enjoyed re-reading so much that I plan to fill the list for 2019 only with books I want to re-read!

Aha I love it - re-reading can be such a wonderful experience, kind of different from reading a book for the first time.

I read Howl's Moving Castle a little over a year ago and I definitely want to reread that soon. That book brought me so much joy, and it's one of those books where everything falls into place in the end, so I love rereading those to kind of see all the little clues that were hidden throughout the book! I also recently picked up some gorgeous copies of Tonke Dragt's Letter For The King duology so that one's definitely due for a reread as well.

I just bought new copies of Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights so I’m really hoping to reread them soon, both of them I read for the first time when I was around fourteen and I’ve reread them quite a few times and I’m excited to get cozy with the gorgeous new editions I have

The Sevenwaters series is perfect for rereading again and again! I finished my reread a few months ago and I already want to start the series again! Kissing the Witch sounds really interesting. Sometimes I find short story collections difficult to get into but I might try this one! I just listened to The Diviners by Libba Bray and enjoyed it. I didn't know about A Great and Terrible Beauty but it sounds interesting. I might have to check that one out as well. I love rereading books and it's so interesting to hear what are the books that people return to again and again :) Since I finished the Sevenwaters series I've been wanting to reread the rest of Juliet Marillier's books like Wolfskin and The Dark Mirror. And I've really been wanting to reread the Hunger Games!

I really want to reread Howl's Moving Castle and Fire and Hemlock by Diana Wynne Jones but I'm a bit afraid that I won't love them as much the second time around. Also The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton and The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater.

I’ve also been thinking about rereading Charlie Bone lately! I read the first two or three books while I was home with the stomach flu in elementary school, and I don’t remember them very well. Can’t wait to see what you think of your rereads!

It's interesting to consider what elements in a book make you want to read it again ... after all, the plot and ending will already be known, so why another bash? It must be due to aspects which have nothing to do with 'discovery' and 'mystery', so perhaps it's connected with how characters interact, their language, the pleasing narrative style, prose, descriptions ... more abstract or lyrical things we could associate with music, and of course, we all have favourite songs we listen to again and again.

This inspires me to try again to find a book from my childhood that I inadvertently read twice as it was released under two titles. I've searched before, but suspect both are long out of print. The setting was WWII Poland. "Escape From Warsaw" "The Silver Sword" No longer recall the author's name. For current titles, I already want to reread "A Gentleman In Moscow" and look forward to a first reading of "Grief Is the Thing With Feathers." Thanks for these recommendations! Addendum: My library has "The Silver Sword" in storage so I have reserved it. Alrhough I read this title second, I now know it is the original title by the late British author, Ian Seraillier when published in the 1950s; then released in the US as "Escape From Warsaw" in 1960. Many thanks again for this video which inspired me to try again to reconnect with this book from childhood. It's fitting that the library will supply this book, since I never owned either title, but found them at libraries.

I feel like I really need to read Kissing the Witch by Emma Donoghue. I didn't get along too well with Room so that puts me off slightly, but it sounds completely different so maybe I should give it a chance? I also definitely need to get to A Great and Terrible Beauty, I have the book sat on my shelves waiting for me!
@JeansThoughts

Yeah I enjoyed Room but they are completely different books, and the writing is quite different as well because of the different genres. I would definitely give KIssing the Witch a try!

I loved the Charlie Bone series back in junior high! I think I stopped about 4 or 5 books in, but I've been meaning to reread them finish the series. A few favorites I want to reread are Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman, Carry On by Rainbow Rowell, the Violet Eden Chapters by Jessica Shirvington, and the ACOTAR series by Sarah J Maas.

My favourite book as a 12/13 year old was I am the Great Horse by Katherine Roberts. Same as you, I lent it to a friend; never got it back; haven't read it since. It basically follows the life of Alexander the Great through the eyes of his horse - it's what first got me interested in the Iliad and ancient Greece etc. - I want to re-read it but am kind of nervous to. As an adult my favourite book to re-read is The Secret History - every time I read it I see some new detail, and it is just so dramatic and fun every time! Thanks for the video Jean :)

👋Jean🌻I read Ordinary People when I was 15. I think the author was Judith Guest. It was made into a movie and won several Oscars. I'd love to reread it again. It's one of the reasons why I called my son Conrad.
