I just finished Pachinko! Such an incredible, heart wrenching book about 4 generations of a korean family from 1910-1989. It goes through the family’s life, hope, and suffering through Japanese colonialism and the war, and what it’s like to live in Japan as a Korean immigrant. I would highly recommend it!!

I did occasionally think if you recommending it when I was browsing for another book in a book store. And then finally I said 'whatever' and bought it! OH MY GOD. Jenn-- I love your book recommendations but have you looked into Book of the Month's practices? Many Black voices in the book club and bookstagram community (particularly thestackpod) questioned Book of the Month. People questioned the company's major lack of Black authors and representation, even within their own employees. Book of the Month then proceeded to block these Black voices (blocking their accounts, deleting their questions) and refused to acknowledge their legitimate questions. They only provided some strange half-apology on IG after people started unsubscribing. It's disappointing to see you accept sponsorship from a company that purposely silences the important questions we need answered.
