Tracy! Yes, I agree with all these boundaries! I am almost 66 and have maintained my weight and workout schedule for 15 years. I’m not willing to not feel good about myself. Consistency is key. Others act like it comes naturally to me, but that is not the case at all. It’s discipline and hard work but so worth it. You nailed it with this video! Thanks so much for your channel and great content! 💕🌼

10 boundaries/ rules for those who manage their weight: 1. THERE IS NO "OFF-SEASON" of managing your weight. You're always on the plan! 2. THEY EXERCISE YEAR ROUND. And if there are big life disruptions, they find a way to squeeze in exercise somewhere, or get back on the plan asap. 3. THEY KNOW & PLAN THAT MOST OF THEIR MEALS WILL BE CLEAN & CALORIE INTAKE MANAGED. 4. THEY DON'T "BOUGIE-UP" (glamorize) THEIR FOOD. 5. THEY mostly ONLY DRINK WATER. They are too smart to drink their calories. If they do have a pop, it's one a day and most likely diet. 6. THEY ARE NOT HEAVY DRINKERS 7. THEY DON'T MAKE EXCUSES when it gets hard or mundane- they just accept it as what they do- an ordinary part of life like going to work or brushing your teeth. 8. THEY HAVE ROUTINES & SYSTEMS IN PLACE to stay organized. 9. THEY HAVE DONT HAVE FOOD & BODY IMAGE ISSUES. Not constantly swinging from one diet to the next. 10. THEY DON'T SNACK!

This is phenomenal advice. I'm mad at myself for allowing some weight to creep back on after losing over 50 pounds last year. Love that you speak about no off-season. Again awesome advice that will help me get back on track!!

People have to choose their “hard”. I listened to the 12 week year and the authors say that for every goal you set, you have to count the costs. If weight loss is the goal, the cost might be watching less tv in favor of being more active, or declining invitations the bar to not consume empty calories, or in my case, reducing the number and size of the sweet and sugary coffees I drink/day. If I’m willing to pay the cost then I can get the reward of lowering the weight on the scale.

I absolutely LOVE your no nonsense approach to this topic Tracy. I just turned 30 this year and have maintained the weight I’ve had since high school. I’ve found myself agreeing to literally everything you’ve said in this video. It’s definitely not just “luck” but a lifestyle. Thank you for going against the grain and staying honest on a topic that has people so worked up now days. 💕

Tracy, excellent message. I get it now and I wish more people could get there. I really have learned this lifestyle and now live it everyday and am so grateful I do. No more excuses for me. I celebrate and indulge intentionally when I really want to but then I’m right back on schedule. Thanks for being real.

This is a terrific talk and as someone who is over 70, I especially appreciated that you mention weight gain as you age is a fallacy. We just continue to put in the work and eat simply. I often hear you saying, "Choose your hard," when I am on the elliptical at Planet Fitness doing my cardio even though I don't feel like it. It has to become a lifestyle.

So true! I've had people tell me that I'm lucky I have a good metabolism. I believe in the 80/20 rule. I eat healthy 80% of the time and enjoy 20% that way I don't feel deprived and the 20% is all about portion control. Eating healthy and exercise have to go hand in hand. Find something you enjoy and get moving! You will be surprised at how great you feel just by making small changes every day and that will keep you motivated.

This way of understanding brings such peace, truly. I have tried to explain this to friends for years when they’re feeling down about themselves. You put it so simply, and your words seriously are the ticket, Tracy. It makes like SO much easier, and stops your day to day starting point from being emotionally all up and down and volatile! “Choose your hard” 💯. This “hard” makes life so much easier, that’s just it! Thank you as always for keeping me thinking clearly along the way! What a breath of fresh air ❤️

Hi, Tracy! Thank you SO much for this wonderful video! It validates the way I have lived for the past 45 years, following a needed weight loss goal that I met- - and by the grace of God, I have maintained- - by doing exactly what you have described!! And you are SO correct!! Yes, a lifestyle of weight management truly requires daily participation- - and I work daily to try to focus on the blessings and benefits of clean living. The issue I am often confronted with is a common reaction I get from people - - both from family, who I love so much, and from others- - who make statements like:” You’re not fat, why don’t you eat this?” or, “You can eat this- - come on, I made it just for you!” The comments just go on and on- - Tracy, if you can address these types of tempting comments and ways to graciously respond, that would be great!! Thank you again for all of the inspiration you provide!!

Good Morning Tracy! Thank you for your much needed video today!! My husband will be retiring soon so we moved to GA from TX to be with our Son and lovely daughter-in-law. It has been a roller coaster of circumstances that has kept us on our knees from the day the moving company unloaded our household goods to this minute that I am typing this. Needless to say, I have gained 40 lbs. and quit exercising. I felt like I totally lost myself and have turned into someone I don't even recognize anymore. I have used our circumstances for the excuses to over eat, complain, no taking care of myself at all. I agree with everything you said today and I am making a plan TODAY, to take the action needed, to start living my life again. God Bless You....this has helped me so much!!!! ❤

You are so right how you lost the weight is how you keep it off. And although my body isn’t like it was the reality is I’m gonna have to make the necessary adjustments. And stop whining. Wow this is such a refreshing video. No bs. People ask me how I maintain my weight even though I never did actually have weight issues. But now that I think about it I’m always on the plan, watching what I eat and working out as much as I can. On rest days I walk a lot. People find it hard to believe that I do all that. They think I’m lucky. I don’t think anyone is lucky, everyone has to work their butt off literally to be lucky. I watched this video twice just to get inspired!!

Haha, I love when Tracy gives hard truths. No sugar coating. Tracy knows that very loose boundaries around food lead to overeating and weight gain. The golden rule for me is having a weight window and weighing myself every week to make sure I am in the weight window. If I am out of the weight window, I will reflect on the eating habits I made and adjust. My weight always returns to baseline.

Tracy, a well-timed video for me. In 2020, I lost the lost 30 pounds in 4 months. This was my ideal weight. But my kids were suffering due to the pandemic and I wanted to be fun mom for the holidays. And made treats I normally do not make. I figured that I could easily lose the weight again and I was wrong. I've gone back and forth with mostly being 6-12 pounds over my ideal weight. I broke all of your RULES, yes rules, and I know it! I can identify it and am getting back on track. I'm going to not SNACK, not eat SUGAR, exercise, but I will dress my food up enough that I enjoy every meal while adding the calories. It works (btw, I'm about to make myself steamed broccoli because I like it!). It's work and sacrifice, but the alternative makes me feel bad 👎 Thanks again! 💟
@TracyHensel2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing, Michelle. Great attitude. I wish you much success as you get back on track. Just be sure to stay on that track. I, too, love steamed broccoli. I also love glamorized broccoli, but that will have to be celebratory, or I will not be able to manage my weight window. Eating glamorized broccoli daily instead of occasionally as a treat would be slippery for many people, including myself. In my younger years, I could have gotten away with it. Our eating and calorie intake must be adjusted as we get older. In addition - Everything we eat MUST taste good, or we will never stick with it, but being trained to glamorize everything just keeps us craving, craving, craving. We all have a different opinion of what tastes good, too. You and I like steamed broccoli, while some could never eat it.

I would love to see a video on how you either keep on your meal program or modify it during your vacations. I have had some success in this area, however, when you are in a group vacation and restaurant selections ie: fast food is chosen by the group, it can be a challenge. I have had my share of restaurants that provide less than optimal choices for me. I focus on eating for health, and feel the meals do not sit well as I do not have the processed foods/oils as part of my normal diet. I have been known to bring some items with me so I can stay on track. Of course there are some planned indulgences I look forward to - and that is where I am allocating my extra calories for pleasure. ☺️ Any tips are appreciated. Like yourself, I am a creature of habit when it comes to my food.
