I’m mainly familiar with Ava through the podcast but they are the best of the lot of them! Their analysis is excellent and it’s great to see someone at SU&SD focus on big games like mage knight because the rest of the team have a penchant for lighter and quirkier games (which is no bad thing)

I love the original boys, but they really like big social "performative" games where they get to be centre of attention, and that is SO not my tastes. Ava likes proper crunchy fiddly stupid euros with rules for building degradation and five different score trackers, and crucially they can explain the joy of those games better than I ever could... I genuinely love them!

In Vino Morte is my favorite because I feel like it gives all of the satisfaction of a much longer bluffing/deduction game into about 5-10 minutes. Also, it's basically the poisoned wine scene from the Princess Bride. If someone doesn't reference Iocane powder at some point, you might be playing it wrong.

Sprawlopolis is the best introductory solo game out there. Even if you don't think solo is for you try it. It's so simple, so quick, and takes no time to set up and put away while being a joy to play. The European version by quined comes with a scorepad!

Great video. Made we want to get some of the other ButtonShy games I haven’t already. One point though... Sprawlopolis makes for a better solo game than a multiplayer co-op, this making FoodChain Island one of two great solo games in this list.
