This set was a real sleeper. Every once in a while I run into a card from this set that's really interesting and fits at least one of my decks. I only knew like three of the cards you mentioned in this video. (Plus I really like the background mechanic)

5:11 Mirror of life trapping is a MEAN CARD. Alot of people dont realize if you choose your commander to be exiled under its effect and its destroyed, or blinked it's exiled for the rest of the game

Mocking Doppelgänger is an awesome card but I’m not sure it’s technically a strict upgrade. The other 2 clones mentioned lets you copy any creature while mocking only lets you copy opponents. It’s the only reason I don’t have it in my Talion clone deck haha

Mirror of Life Trapping is fun for Initiative because it can blink stuff. I'm sure it will see a bit more love as we get more ETB commanders. A friend of mine hates this card because he uses a lot of creatures that need to be on the battlefield when they are played.

Mirror of life trapping....if they cast their commander and let it get exiled, you can remove the mirror and permanently exile their commander.

I wouldn't say Mocking Doppelganger is a powercrept Stunt Double so much as it's a sidegrade, since it can't clone your own creatures.

Mirror of Life Trapping also hoses the decks that exile off the top opponents libraries to cast themselves, at least on the creature side. With it in play that person basically can't keep any creatures themselves because theyll spend mana just for it to blink back to their owners side. Neat.

you definitely missed important notes on the following Mocking Dopplerganger: you missed the biggest part about it and its the "other creatures with the same name" part you can target either a token or relentless effect card and they are foced to attack with all of those so your safe from them for example Avenger of zendikar plants are now forced to attack and not you Mirror of life Trappings: you got most of it but theres on part missed are you familiar with the "Roon of the hidden realm (any slow blink) + Sundial of the infinite" effect which makes opponents things permanently exiled? you can do that with this as well all you need to do is self destruct it or blink it when somethings inside it because it not worded to bring it back if it leaves play. Call of the Void: ya its risky since your stuff will be destroyed....but you forgot something...."Destroy each creature chosen this way", again "Destroy" what would happen if i made my board....indestructible by what ever means then cast it. there will be absolutely no point on targeting your creatures since they won't be destroyed, oh and for a secondary note "target" is missing so Hexproof/Ward creatures don't stand a chance.

Doppelganger can’t copy creatures you control, which is why it’s not amazing. You can’t be sure that your opponents will have something to copy

the previous expansion dropped a cmc 3 black instant that destroys creature or enchantment and you lose 2 life. that and feed the swarn, i believe, is better enchant removal

@@edhdeckbuilding true, but i suppose most people wont give a try a cmc 6 creature without flash when they can pay less and do it instan speed, UNLEEEEEESS its a only creature deck or the deathtouch mode can really shine with synergies. who knows

Always great to see some cards from my favourite set! Recently i won a game with a card featured in this video: Opponent at 16 life, myrkul bats and 8 treasures in play. Cast Marut with mana from the treasures, trigger the bats to drain 8 life. Marut's etb triggers, creating 8 more treasures, draining the remaining life with the bats. No combat necessary.

Call to the void deserves a ban, not more love. The logistics of a 4 player commander game are already a nightmare and turns often drag on for too long. Imagine having to also pause the game for people to write their choices somewhere, be it on paper or a smartphone, because somebody played that card. Honestly I'd be in favour of banning whole mechanics in Commander. The "make a secret choice" and "daytime/night time" would be the first to go.
