I’m willing to pay more for my own cabin, but double occupancy makes it much more limited as to the ones I can take, and sometimes double occupancy is still cheaper due to supply and demand. I haven’t convinced my friends or acquaintances to go with me yet, partially because so many of them are paired off and want to use their vacation time with their family.

I hate the mandatory gratuities. If it's mandatory, just include it in the price. Give us the full price up front so we don't get sticker shock at the end of the day.

ope...they make enuf; do your research..and if we choose to tip roomcleaner n buffet waitress its my choice. we dont use bars..casinos..mdr..spa so no. we pay enough to just be on a cruise without extra almost $3-500 to tip. no maid needs $16 day to tidy my cabin!

I agree with the late night food options. I am a late night person and hate being in a long line for pizza or anything else. Give more options. I am mostly a single cruiser. Yes help us single cruisers. USBs is def a problem. It is an electronic world. All these points are worthy of a second look at! Thanks.

I was on my last cruise on RCL by the suite Concierge that they will be building midsized cruise ships I think he called them the discovery class

So far, my favorites have been Voyager and Navigator of the Seas, so yes, the mid-size. My last was an MSC, and debarkation took several hours (!!!!) Just too big, with not enough logistical considerations.

As a doting mom, grandma and great grandma, please enforce adult-only rules for hot tubs, the solarium, and so forth. Adults are not permitted to “take over” the children only areas, children should not take over the bars, casino, solarium and hot tubs.

I especially dislike women who wear their perfume as if they bathed in it. When I am dining, I would rather smell and taste my food than that of a heavy offensive perfume.

It isn’t a penalty or supplement. Prices are based on double occupancy. It’s a flat rate for the cabin, and if you cruise solo, you still pay that price.

Yes, maybe a drink card where you prepay a certain amount. Royal Caribbean has a coffee card that cost $31 and you use it throughout your cruise.

Someone told me that mocktails sometimes cost more than regular drinks. One of the things that irks me is when a non drinker has to have a drink package because they share a booking with a drinker. People who can't or who refuse refuse to take alcohol, should _never_ be penalised. I know there are cheaters. I know people share who shouldn't. But we need to find a way.

On a recent Royal Caribbean cruise, I was traveling with a non-drinker. She was not made to purchase an alcohol package. We called the cruise line directly- I bought the drink package and she got the refreshment package (water, soda, milkshakes, mocktails, specialty coffees, juices, etc.). Her package was inexpensive.

They are required to purchase drinks package though, even if not an alcoholic one. Most of my family live off regular tea, coffee and water, juice at breakfast and most of us are highly allergic to orange, so until they offer fresh squeezed apple or grape juice, it’s a la cart for the person who wants something more.

Get rid of the smoking in the casino. I avoid the casino due to not wanting to inhale smoke and don't want my clothes to stink up my cabin after being subjected to the smoking. I wouldn't mind if they just added the tipping to the bill so that the crew would get paid better. People who remove the tipping who claim they tip who they want is nice but the people cooking your meals or doing your laundry don't get anything you tip a waiter. Just add the tipping to the bill so everybody is paid better.

Some people just sit in the casino to chain smoke and don’t gamble. I gamble and don’t smoke. I often have to leave because my eyes are burning and I’m coughing. At least have no smoking at the gaming tables

1- More affordable solo sale options. 2- Availability of more drink package options. ie. 15 drinks per cruise, 20 drinks per cruise. 3- More USB ports per cabin. To include one on each side of the bed.

4 - don't restrict kid friendly areas like radiance of the seas does some adults are big kids at hearts too! 5- more waterpark areas 6- boarding not restricted - some hotels on land have checkout at 10am so have disembarkation and embarkation at this time but restrict access to cabins until 1pm

I am often a solo cruiser and it STINKS that I as one person basically have to pay as much as if I were 2 people. A solo cruiser should only have to pay as a solo cruiser... 1 person!!

On some older Princess ships you have to walk through the casino to get from one end of the ship to the other. When the casino is open. The smoke is bad. But even when it’s closed, the odor sticks to your clothes.

After I got home, I had a strong tobacco stench in my clothes, my hair, and even on the skin. I have not visited a smoking venue ever since.

I agree with that too. I usually do cruise solo. They also should just band smoking totally on the ships. I am not a big drinker of alcohol. However, on the cruise I do like to treat myself once in a while. It would be nice if they had a package where you only could put $100 towards it. That would be perfect for me.

I just booked with them and got a cabin for 2 so I could 'save' 600 dollars. totally dumb!! My travel agent says that I can just tell them the other person wasn't able to come and I will get the taxes refunded. But really, we should not be charged MORE than double!! I want to eventually get a cruise with MCL but I wanted one with a few more activities than eating and lounging.

The one thing about an Adults Only cruise is people have different vibes besides not having kids. I was at an adults only resort and it was like 40 year olds gone wild, more loud and dumb behavior then I have ever seen from children. So while that might be some folks idea of a good time, it's not a cure all for a relaxing trip.

I definitely would like to see more excursions for handicap. I went to Perfect Day at Coco Cay alone and couldn’t walk around to the shops as they were all in the sand. I would like paths I can cruise in my electric wheelchair alone and get to the shops.😊

I acknowledge there are parts of the world it will always be more difficult for fully accessible excursions. It often depends on the type of accommodations required…but on a cruise line created park, one would think they would do better.

Solo cruiser fares HAVE to get better. I like traveling with friends BUT I prefer being in a room alone having had nightmare roommates in the past! Just wrong to charge me double or almost double. Stop the smoking in casinos!!! No signing for anything, technology is wonderful. Better overall Wifi. Cruiselines within the same "family" (Princess, HAL, Carnival) a person's status should universal.

We could not go use the casino on our ship because of the smoking (smoke induced asthma). It was difficult enough traversing the area to get to the stores on the other side.

What I want to see in 2024 and afterwards: 1) No private islands - I want to stop at interesting destinations, NOT mediocre amusement parks. 2) No extras in the base rate. I do not want Wifi, beverages, and the like that I will never use. As for gratuities, here is a story from a senior bartender on a Princess ship. Four Princess bartenders left the cruise line at the end of the contract and went to work at Virgin. Their salaries were 20% higher. They left after one contract and returned to Princess. Why? When tips were included in the fare, Virgin customers never tipped. Therefore, their overall compensation was significantly less.

NCL has lots of solo cruising options. As a solo and a smoker, I like the newer NCL ships with a designated smoking casino that is enclosed. Lots of mocktails for my friends in recovery! I agree that free wifi would be great! Food options late night and for vegan cruisers is just a no-brainer! I like the bigger ships, but still like the feel of the older midsize ships best! I try to cruise while school is in session to avoid lots of kids. Well behaved children are a delight, but sadly, they are becoming more rare.

Sadly, well behaved children become more rare because their young parents don't even know how to behave themselves, don't even have least manner. How could they teach their children. At the end, they will blame adults, older people like us _"mean and grumpy"_

@@CL-mp4vn I took my family on a cruise a year and a half ago (my daughter and son in law, my son and his 3 kids, age 13,10 and 8). The kids were very well behaved because they knew they had dad, auntie and uncle to keep them in check. Gramma (me) won't stand for bad behavior or bad manners! I have promised each of them that I will take them on a cruise for high school graduation if they graduate with a 3.0 or better GPA! So far so good!

The excursions where you are able to take your mobility device always fill up with those who don’t have chairs or scooters so then we are left on ship or to find a private excursion. There needs to be some alternative- especially if you have an “accessible room”. I mean they know.

A very good list that cruise lines should pay attention to. Yes the electric outlets and USB ports by the bed are definitely needed. The gratuity fee is a hot topic. The tip pool is a major source of income to the staff and whether it is built into the pricing or a separate item I doubt it will go away. One change I hope never changes is the muster drill. I would love to see true solo cruises on Celebrity, Princess and Royal even Holland. I hate to see that I'm paying both costs of the cabin and all I save is the flight cost of the second person. So!. I would like to see if the cost of the cruise is posted at $1000 I only pay $1000 not $1650 or more. I would love to be able to have a smaller drink special for people that only want a glass of wine for dinner, or a brandy or a special coffee once in awhile that would be nice.

Most of the suggestions do hold merit. However I don't think the cost of extras should be included (WiFi etc.) in the fare. Cruisers should be able to pick and choose what they may want without having to pay for those they don't. Putting the gratuities in the fare makes sense because at the end of the day it is generally added to your onboard account.

Great video İlana! I would LOVE it if all cruise lines would reconsider their prices for solo cruisers! It’s so unfair for solos to have to pay double for their cabins. I’d also like to see a totally non-smoking cruise itinerary. I agree with having more late night food options too. Having WiFi included in the price would be such an attractive incentive! I think people hate being nickel and dime to death! Just have the actual price of the cruise with everything included!

The reason that the deck crew does nothing about chair hogs is the all important after cruise questionnaire. The chair hogs will call out the crew member and maybe even pan the cruise. It's a catch 22. Pay and promotions are partially based on responses to that questionnaire.

There are always ways in true case of emergency. I travel solo, and leave the ships contact information with family. We also discuss ahead of time what/when a call should be made. My parents visited their last parent before a three month trip, and discussed with family, there was nothing they needed to do immediately if something happened so would likely not come back early. There was a large extended family and none on vacation were executors. This continues to be the general practice in the family.

Excellent vid and points! As a smoker... ahem... I don't see why they couldn't have a sectioned off area for smoking, enclosed so the smoke doesn't waft into the rest of the ship. It is annoying to non-smokers. And (Hello, Carnival...) Can we PLEASE get a smoking "corner" in the Serenity area? One tiny table shoved in a corner somewhere would be great! And yes, as a solo cruiser, getting a "discount" by not having double port fees is NOT a discount.

I totally agree on the mocktails. They should have a separate package that includes more than just soda that doesn’t include alcohol. We have been buying the drinks package on NCL lately just for the mocktails. I agree on the non-smoking casinos. On most NCL ships they have separate places for smoking and non-smoking players. However, we were recently on the NCL Sky and it wasn’t separated. We avoided that floor altogether, but you could still smell the smoke in the atrium.

We get confused with every cruise by the indistinguishable line start points at each station in the Lido cafe. With the crush of people at some stations, it’s frustrating when you end up standing at the wrong end for 10 minutes and have to start over at the proper spot. Elevated signs reading “Start Here” would be oh, so helpful. One of us is a non-alcohol drinker. Love the mocktail idea!

1) Stop gouging us for Wi-Fi . In today’s world where everybody needs to be connected, Wi-Fi should be free. 2) Shore excursions should not be so expensive. Everybody knows shore excursions sold by the cruise ships are extra expensive. If you lower the prices, more people will purchase excursions from the cruise line. 3) Have smaller drink packages. Some of us do not drink alcohol and are not massive soda drinkers. I would like to see the cruise lines include one free drink per meal period per person, per day and then you pay for any drinks after that. 4) Have dedicated water bottle refill stations around the ship so people don’t fill their water bottles at the buffet beverage station.

As to loyalty programs, when you book a cruise where the points/nights to be earned push you to a new level, you should get the rewards/perks for the new level once you are on board rather than having to wait until your next cruise. Some higher levels are very difficult (and expensive) to earn- you should be able to enjoy them once you are on board.

On my last weekend cruise, I really forgot to check the Buffet to see if there was any late night snacks. Even burgers. I really wasn't wild about Sorrento's. I don't need Internet really at this point. No family to connect to now or ever in the past. I wish they had pasture raised options in beef and eggs. Much healthier. And no seed oils in any sauce.

The pasture raised options depend on where the beef is from, which partially depends on where your cruise originates. In a cooked sauce or food, animal fats are healthier long term, in uncooked vegetable fats are. PS, chickens naturally eat bugs and the darker the yoke has to do with the proteins the chicken ate not whether they are running around or not. Family has allergies, involved in farming on three continents and a friend works for the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

I am 78 years old and traveling with my special needs 23 year old grandson and his mother and father. The parents want the drink package so ALL of us have to pay for the drink package even though my grandson medically can NOT have any alcohol and I do not drink. In addition to that neither of us drink specialty coffee or soft drinks. I would like an option to accommodate the additional people in the cabin to have NO drink package while still allowing the first 2 passengers to enjoy the drink package.

I remember cruising the days of actual midnight buffets. Abbreviated down from the daytime or regular dinner buffets, but still with many food choices. And then a couple nights of GRAND Midnight Buffets, all out fancy decorated, delectable foods and desserts, no holds barred spread. With all the pomp & circumstance! NO WEARABLE TECHNOLOGY! We don’t even wear lanyards around our necks. Instead of wearable, why not make a the phone useful as a room key and a way to pay for stuff? As an option besides a card?

I have a first cruise coming in January 2025. It’s 17 day HAL trip around Hawaii. My cabin mate (and neighbor) is 93 and couldn’t care less about Wi-Fi and drink package. I am not looking forward to no communication with my family 5 sea days each way. I would like to get a have it all package for just me. But alas …. I cannot. This has me already thinking I won’t enjoy this cruise.. but If I like cruising, I’ll have to go solo or find a more compatible cabin mate.

Royal Caribbean's Harmony of the Seas- we were on this ship in May and the smoke flooded the area of the MDR where we were sitting. We hated it!!! Just be aware of this if you're sailing on this ship in the future. I'd pay more just to have smoke free cruises.

I wish they would change the gratuity policy and call it what it is, add it to the cost of the cruise, then we’d likely still tip on top of it. Maybe not as much as before but if these workers are making a livable wage these would actually be TIPS. Also, the medallion idea is great. I can’t imagine it’s that costly, Disney has been doing the wrist bands for years! Or maybe give us an option. I’d pay like 10.95 for it! Ok, this is a big ask, but i want one or two ramp silos on the ship to replace a couple of stairwells. Embarkation and debarkation are hell when waiting for elevators. Between the scooters and all that luggage, ramps would allow for more people to avoid the elevators.

I saw a suggestion that it's quicker to get the embark/debark elevators by going up ( or down ) a flight or 2 of stairs, and vice versa. The elevators usually stop on every level so they take forever.... or do like some skyscrapers and have some elevators that zoom past a few floors and stop at only certain ones, signs telling you which one you should take to your room level.
